N135 Puerto de Erro to Zubiri

One of the comments on Wise Pilgrim said it was about 4km extra. I've seen mixed messages about walking the road, some say okay, others like in Wise Pilgrim say don't. I guess a lot depends on the weather. This one is a concern for me too since it will be my first long day of walking. Only...

    OK guys, what underwear?

My choices so far are Wranglers from Walmart. 92% Nylon, 8% Spandex boxer brief a size larger than normal worked for me. Should last and dry Quick, or REI Wool and Tencel boxers or boxer briefs. Smartwool didn't fit well. I'll be hiking in cooler weather. I've been trying different kinds for...

    More Graphs?

Speculation on my part, but I think the delta between years is influenced by holidays which fluctuate (easter, festivals, etc). It might be a good overlay to see these in the data if you are looking to understand the deltas or looking to pick an ideal time to go. (fewer people)

what Camera option are people using

This has been a big question for me too, what camera to take. I won't get to go on my camino for a while so I've been going back and forth, but the best advice I read on the web was don't take anything you can't afford to loose. I was debating with my options, my nikon z50, my pixel 7pro, or...

    Short stage Camino from Sarria

Thanks, enjoyed your video. I'm thinking of doing the Sarria to Santiago first to see if I can make it given my arthritis in my hips. It is encouraging to see others making the journey.

Comment by 'Robertb345' in media 'Menu at Cafe Suso (summer 2023)'

Interesting to see this. Makes me realize how even the words I do understand, doesn't mean I can understand what I'll be getting. Guiness tarta?

How to remove tracks from google maps

Actually thanks for this. For me when I click on the CNIG Caminos I get the options to turn off what is shown. So if you can do that you could remove all the check marks and the data would disappear from the map. At least that is how it worked on my phone.

Men's Pants - There Can Be Only One

Columbia Silver Ridge Cargo Pants is what I got. Nylon with pockets, much more reasonable than Duluth pants. Have worn for local hikes and they worked well. You can always wear with thermals for winter.

Best options for paying and getting cash in Spain as a US citizen

You can also open a brokerage account to get the ATM card if that suits you. THat is what I have since my account moved from TD to Schwab this year.

Best options for paying and getting cash in Spain as a US citizen

As indicated above, it is the Debit card from Schwab for ATM fees that get re-embursed. For purchases you might consider a no fee credit card. Bank of America has a blue card with No annual fee and no foreign transaction fees. You don't want to use the credit card at the ATM, just the debit...

    Size of dry bags

I got these below (for when I make my pilgrimage). I have already packed and use for while I train with the pack loaded. I used the 4 small sizes for clothes and stuff, the large one I planned for dirty clothes and to wash clothes. Also the compression sack for the sleeping bag since it is...

Visa for Americans for more than 90 days?

I know when the UK was in the EU it was probably different and I expect they grandfathered people from UK who retired to Spain, but I understand their are lots of Brits retired in southern Spain. Surely Spain doesn't want to cut off all those interested in retiring their just because folks are...

    Long term visa for Europe?

SO if I understand correctly, I could jump from country to country based on the old agreements and stay in Europe longer than 90 days. I just can not stay in any one country longer than they allowed in this document, assuming they are listed in this with existing old bilateral agreements...

    App to track daily progress

I'm testing different apps at home now and have think Map my walk has been the easiest. One thing others do is let me take pictures along the route as I record it, which is nice. But they seem to do lower resolution, so I have not found a way around that yet (Wikiloc, Gaia GPS). While using in...
