Wow, it certainly is cheap, but not too bad weight wise. I'll be interested to know how you get on after a couple of weeks sleeping on it - or is it intended more for emergency use?
To be fair, I suspect that with many pilgrims you’d be 100% correct - but some like myself have a moderate amount of pre-Camino experience; others on here have used many resources to get their weight down pre - Camino. Like, for example, this self-same forum, and it’s helpful inhabitants!
Ditto. For precisely the reason you gave, @henrythedog : "Whatever you’re comfortable carrying ".
For my second camino I carried more than I did on my first, because I realized that I would rather have one or two comfort items that I had missed on my first. Were they necessary - no. Did I...
No .
Zero need for concern on the Frances - it's a pilgrim highway. Literally. Take a look at some of the photos on here, like the photos of the meseta for example.
@peregrina2000 and a few others like her have the envious habit of walking caminos that practically nobody else has ever heard...
100%. Including the LOC thread!
Oh, except I don't even own a kindle. Zero interest, I love the real thing far too much.
Somebody once asked me what I would do if I won the lottery. In addition to the usual items one of my top fives was 'have my own library'.
@Bedspring , I, too, am a booklover. I read constantly in whatever format I can lay my hands on. But I will always choose a book if one is available. As above I have seen a handful of times where books have been available. Unfortunately on Camino they are few and far between. A few of us do...
Yes, I watched Efrèns videos too, as always loved his camera work. He's a bit thin on details in the videos but he does mention putting together something ( a downloadable resource ?), presumably available on his website. I assume at a small cost.
Frankly I'm leaning a little more towards...
You're very welcome. There's many excellent posts on here that express things quite well, however that particular post just absolutely nailed it for me.
Believe me, as you will see from the responses you've already had so far - you are most definitely not alone.
Yes, time will take care of it...
@cbeckham , I, too, suffer the Camino blues. I don't think I've ever seen it written more clearly than the beautiful thread from @andonius :

Gloves no - not this late; in an emergency you can always wear spare socks as gloves. Unless you suffer from cold hands!
Beanie yes. Can really help as you're warming up for the first half hour or so, easy to take off. Overnight temps are still only 4-5 degrees in Roncesvalles. Good on an...
Sarah I'm one who has for nearly 40 years always had a spare (third) pair of socks and underwear. Yes it's a little bit of a luxury but I seriously dislike putting on damp or even just half dry underpants. A 3rd pair of socks acts not only for their intended purpose but also as emergency gloves...
I'm from NZ, so ditto, but as I've been travelling off and on for the last 40 years I kind of gave up on trying to figure out everything. I've arrived in so many places at say seven, it's been broad daylight and I've had no idea whatsoever if it was morning or evening!
So I gratefully adopted...
Thanks!
Incidentally, @rgutena , I presume you have read the highly entertaining thread from @sunflowerfunk ? The first part of Max's journey is on the VG. Unfortunately it's a little slim on accommodation options - unless you like benches... .
There's a brief ( by Max's standards) overview...
I'd leave tomorrow if I could! Two minor issues:
1/my son is in his last year of school; he's very capable but I'm not yet prepared to (literally) walk away! Not for 4 months anyway.
2/ my broken ankle.
At the moment, planning is ALL I can do!😂😂
