Stop and think about it. Of all of the multitude of pilgrims who walk any Camino path, there HAS to be an average distance walked daily. Given constraints on time, physical and enjoyment, the average range is probably somewhere between 15 and 30km/day of walking. Ultimately, the pace is purely...
This conversation belongs in the same bucket as all the other topics which permit people to be judgmental of other pilgrims. Truly, no one really cares about individual opinions regarding matters that are none of your business.
Wife and I did the Senda Litoral from Porto last April/May and had a fantastic time. The weather was near perfect for walking and I never had to use my poncho. Always wore shorts and t-shirts. Mornings can be cool but quickly warm up as sun rises. Never got above mid to upper 70’s but sun is...
We spent the 1st night in Matoshinos and 2nd night in Labruge and that was a perfect pace to start. Then gradually increased the distance each day from there. Highly advisable.
Any day of the week is just fine to start from Porto. You are not going to experience a crowded trail. We did this Camino this past April/May and enjoyed it immensely following the coast all the way to Vigo and then walking to Redondela and onto Santiago.
Walked from Porto to Santiago via coast this past April/May. Had no problems securing desired accommodations. Would also highly recommend Smiling Places bed and breakfast in Labruge. Outstanding hosts.
Used Wise Pilgrim app on the Camino Portuguese Litoral/Coastal route this past May and found it to be superb. Especially found the real time trail map and location to be very helpful in areas where the signage was a little skimpy. Would highly recommend.
Whatever you decide be sure and get shoes that are a half to whole size larger than you typically wear. Long distance walking will cause your feet to swell and the toes need room.
It’s a beautiful walk from the bus stop out to the lighthouse and not to be missed on a clear day. As to the bus stop in Finisterre, any of the locals can point the way. Just up the hill from the harbor next to a laundromat.
As I understand, there is a RER train from CDG to Montparnasse Station. Plug this route into rome2rio.com and it should provide you with more specifics. Others may chime in as well.
LL Bean Cresta hiking pants were excellent for me during my recent Camino Portuguese. Lightweight, dried quickly, doesn’t show dirt, can wear anywhere and are very comfortable. Highly recommend!
This is perfectly do-able as long as you don't insist on finishing your walk in Santiago. Other factors involve your need for rest day(s), carrying a pack vs using pack transport services, weather, desire to explore, etc. Of course, others may chime in and say, of course this is doable to which...
Surprised at how much I enjoyed the Camino Portuguese (Porto to Santiago) as I am not much of a walker or hiker. The other pleasant surprise was how my mind would simply go into "neutral" and not think about anything....just hearing my footsteps and seeing the surroundings. Looking forward to...
I used Altra Lone Peak 7 on my recently completed Porto to Santiago Camino and while I loved the wide toe box and light weight, I wished they had more cushioning and I’m not sure the 0 drop suits me as I had quite a bit of discomfort initially with soreness along the upper Achilles/lower leg...
