Buen Camino app, negative about central Portugal

In my humble opinion the walk from Porto to Vila do Conde is lovely. Firstly by the river and then the coast. From there you can cut across to Barcelos to join the Central which I think is a great walk. Plenty of history and some lovely towns.

As long as it ends in a "y" you will be fine.

Finding my way along the route

If you need an app on the Camino Frances you have a problem. It is so well marked and here are so many pilgrims it is impossible to get lost. Put your phone away and enjoy what is around you.

    First Day Leaving Porto Options

The walk from Porto to Vila do Conde is great. First beside the river and then the coast. The next day to Barcelos there is some road walking but nothing dangerous.

    Ashes on the Frances

Finisterre. My wife passed 4 1/2 years ago and even though she never walked a camino I was always telling her how much I love Finisterre. When she was in her last days she asked me to spread some of her ashes at Finisterre which I dutifully did and visit the spot on each of my walks there.

    Camino dos Faros

Would be interested to hear what they think of it. One plus is there will be 2 of them walking it.

    Camino dos Faros

Meet a few people when I was walking the Portuguese (after the Faros) who had walked the Fishermans Trail and all spoke highly of it.

    Camino dos Faros

I had no app just the book. Agree there was easy and beautiful walking but there were also sections that in my view were dangerous especially in the wet weather. I guess not meeting anyone else had something to do with it also but I did find it reassuring that the only 2 pople I meet that were...

    Camino dos Faros

Appreciate your comments. Obviously this is my opinion and I know others will differ. I have walked 6 camino's but this was certainly the most challenging. I watched a number of youtubes on the walk but nothing indicated the walk to be as difficult as it was.

    Camino dos Faros

I recently walked the Camino dos Faros from Malpica to Finisterre over 8 days and have to say this is hardest and most difficult walk I have ever done. Tough uphills and sharp descents with a lot of rock scrambling, track quite often one boot width wide on the edge of cliffs, scrub often waist...

    Finisterre

There seems to be rumours going round that buses from Finisterre are fully booked for weeks ahead. This is not true . Bus I returned om n 2+ days ago had plenty of seats available .

What part of the Camino from Lisbon to Porto is worth seeing?

Agree with Jungleboy. Tomar to Coimbra is a great walk and both towns are well worth the visit.

    Santiago not overly crowded

Totally agree. I arrived 5 days ago & SdeC was quietest I have seen. Pilgrim office also a lot better. In and out very quickly. Maybe more efficient people on duty!

    Negreira Albergue

Unfortunately I don’t but you could google.
