I agree with Woody. Casa Rural Molino is a great place to stay.

Memorable Moments on the Norte and beyond (including mishaps)

Yes I agree. Brother Lawrence is a splendid chap. He runs a tight ship in the Sobrado Monastery but is very pleasant to talk to with some interesting stories.

Getting to Madrid from mid-point on the Camino Frances

If you can get as far as Sahagún, the midway point of the Camiino then there is a good fast train service from there to Madrid. That's what we did in 2012

    Hostal in Lourenzá

Just a note to highly recommend Casa Gloria in Lourenzá. Very reasonably priced if 2 people sharing with breakfast included. Spotless with excellent bathroom. Washing machine available. 4* experience.

    Albergue Ribadesella closed?

It was closed when we walked through at the end of May. People in the albergue at San Esteban de Leces were saying that the owner had died.

Crossing the Río Pas by FEVE train (Boo de Piélagos to Mogro(

Thoroughly agree with this advice. There are about 4 trains per hour (both directions) and in my humble opinion crossing by the bridge is a pretty risky option. Far easier to get on the train at Boo and get off at Mogro. Nice albergue by the station in Boo where you can get a drink and excellent...

Long stage with no food and drink

Hi pelegrinos Please be aware that from Villaviciosa to La Carcava there are currently no open shops, Cafes or Restaurants. Bar at La Carcava is the first opportunity to buy food and drink. If you want to avoid 4 to 5 hours without refreshment then buy food in Villaviciosa.

I have just finished walking the 3rd leg of our camino (Sahagun to Sarria). Unfortunately my camino companion lost his credencial somewhere between Ponferrada and VillaFranca de Bierzo. It's one issued by the Confraternity of St James (bright yellow cover). If found, could it be sent to my home...

    Half way point

Assuming that you are on the Camino, your friend could take a train from Madrid to Sahagun, which is about the halfway mark on the Camino Frances and meet you there.

My first camino, my first blog...

Steve, You are right about the anticipation. It's fun planning the next stage each year. You also acquire some skills in using the Spanish infrastucture - booking coaches, trains etc.. However, I have found myself regretting that I have to stop and the end of a stage and wanting to carry on...

My first camino, my first blog...

Your photo of the Angel & Greyhound and reference to sharks in roofs implies an Oxford connection. I work in Oxford and am halfway through my first camino frances so I feel a connection :-) My camino is spread over 4 years due to the necessity of my companion and I to work for a living. Year...
