    Almost summer on the Plata

Change of plan Sandra. I now fly into Seville on 18th May, Saturday and will begin next day Sunday. Hope your walk is going well. I am a bit nervous now that the commitment is made. Buen Camino.

    Almost summer on the Plata

Don’t have a book Omar but I have lots of information and maps on my iPhone.

    Almost summer on the Plata

I hope to begin the Plata on the 11th May from Seville. Is anyone else planning to begin around that time ?. I know it’s almost summer and it will be very warm. Am I mad or will others also be on the trail at this time .

    My stages on the Vdlp

Dear Peregrina 2000, I have to admire you. You seem to be on some of the routes every year and are a very professional pilgrim. I wondered how often you walk, how many weeks per year and at what times, Spring/Autunm?. I have done the France twice in 09 and 10. Now eight years later I've taken...

    Cycling, Seville airport to Cathedral

Thanks a lot folks, this will be very helpful. Think the bus will be the best option.

    Cycling, Seville airport to Cathedral

Is it quite easy to cycle from Seville airport to the Cathedral and how far is it. I have a 20" wheel folding bike which I intent to try to do the camino with. I don't mind walking even 50% of the way and pushing the bike which will be carrying my pack. I just think some of the longer stages...

    Cycle

Thanks everyone for your advice. I think I will go to the large Decathlon store in Camas and think I will get kitted out with a decent bike and all the accessories for around 200 euros. Then when I make it to Santiago I might decide to cycle back the France to St Jean. I have already walked this...

    Cycle

I am considering cycling the Plata as I have had a new hip recently. I wonder would it be as cheap to acquire a basic bike in Seville instead of flying a bike from Ireland. A good solid second hand bike would be fine and should not cost a lot. A new basic bike can be bought new from the large...

    Post-Camino withdrawal symptoms / blues

Yes yes yes you must do it from St Jean. Its a completely different experience right up to Sarria where you run into the crowds, youth clubs, people out for a few casual days walking etc. Walking the last week does not give a good insight into the Camino. Begin planning now and good luck.

This is totally against Camino spirit but . . .

I feel the Albergue should lay down and explain the rules to everyone that books in. No lights out till ten and no torches or noise till after 7am. I love a few glasses of vino and unwind with new friends in the evening then bed at ten and not a moment before. Its what makes the Camino for me...

    Bullfight tickets in Sevilla

It is disgusting and I will not insult sport by calling it sport. Anyone that can do that to an animal for pleasure or watch it for pleasure are seriously warped. Lets call a spade a spade and stop pussyfooting. We cry about fox hunting, badger baiting, cock fighting etc. yet this crime goes on...

    The last leg.

I must firstly assure 'dougfitz' and 'falcon269' that I do not "Lurk" anywhere waiting on your replys. I was voicing my personal opinion on the subject. I have walked from St. Jean twice and enjoyed both caminos apart from a bad experience on my second on the last leg involving over exuberant...

    The last leg.

What is the attitude towards people who fly to Santiago and take a bus to Sarria to walk the last leg. I quite understand older people or people who are just not able and can only manage the last eighth of the pilgrimage. What I cannot understand is youth club leaders arriving with crowds of...

    Hotel rooms rather than hostels?

Must agree with 'Sagalout' the Camino must be a leveller for everyone. I think it is ok to use a hotel now and again for a break and a nice shower with lovely clean sheets but most of the time should be spent with the masses in the Albergues. The bedbugs, farting, snoring, communal...
