Ziggy, Me, and Rosti to the Whiffletree. Comes Perambulation, Articulation, and Tauredunum latterly.

PART 1. It was in 990AD that Pope John XV announced that Ziggy was to be appointed the 27th Archbishop of Canterbury. So, over 1000 years ago, and there had been 26 Archbishops already....Blimey. Ziggy had been educated at Glastonbury Abbey, where he eventually became a monk. He went on to...

    Del Norte

Hi Marianne! How nice to catch you here. I like that northern coastline so much. But it always appear a little tough for me, especially starting from Irun. Another one I am investigating is the Arragones, starting at Canfranc Station, winding down thru the hill country to meeting the CF just...

    Paris Accommodation

ADVENIAT - https://adveniat-paris.org/en/ I never stay anywhere else. I get the metro to Gare Montparnasse then catch the 7.15ish morning train from to Bayonne. At Bayonne station, the valley rattler to SJPDP waits until the train from Paris arrives.

    A little rant about entitlement

I get grumpy about things now and them. Don't take any notice. Or give me a tongue lashing...gentle or stern. Probly need one. But I don't have a feeling of entitlement. I'm just grumpy. Regards? Gerard

    Hello from Japan

Wow that's a hard one. Because your request is so extensive. Where would one start answering? Here! NB.NB.NB. Make full use of the Search Function (top right of this page). I would suggest you initially formulate individual questions on individual subjects. EG. Your time? Availability and...

    Trail Runners

The videos in this post may help if encountering problems. As a Lone Peak user I find an added or replacement insole of help. This may necessitate a half or full size increase in shoe size...

Stopping between Roncesvalles & Zubiri - room share with 2 beds.

We stayed at Urrobi and really enjoyed it. Just a few KS down the main road after Burgette (off Camino but easy walking). Dorms, cabins, tent sites. River swimming and a pool. Little shop too! Short walk the next morning to be back on the Camino. Regards Gerard

How many days are needed for the Camino Frances ?

It takes what it takes. You never quite know til the end. So you guestimate. I reckoned, after guestimating my daily mileage, it would take 35 days to walk the CF. I guestimated I would need/want one day off every week. I figured to have a day off in Pamplona, Logrono, Burgos, Leon, Astorga...

Geneva Airport to Lausanne city center

I caught a bus into the CBD and stayed at a hostel in Rothschild St. I then spent one day sightseeing. The following morning I took a paddle steamer up the lake to Lausanne, 4 hours. Highly recommend the lake trip. €40 from memory...

LIVE from the Camino Valcarlos route! Days 1 & 2

Although I have never walked the Valcarlos route, I have for several years heard of its many, usually season oriented benefits, extolled here on the forum and on other sites. But so far, the magnificence of the Napoleon route has ensured that for me no variant is worthy of consideration. Here's...

    Pre payment cards

Not being an American citizen, or living there, I did apply for a Schwab A/C several years ago. I was informed then that they were only for US citizens. If possible, I'd appreciate a link to investigate again. TIA Regards Gerard

Altra Lone Peak 4 Trail-Running Shoes?

I slide a thin, hard, arch support insole underneath the supplied Altra insole. The hard nature of the arch support insole acts as a rock plate while it's thin nature minimises problems with fit. IMO arch support is very important, especially for those new to longer distance walking. Regards Gerard

The people we don’t yet know …anticipatory Buen Caminos

Currently, my thoughts, well wishing, and most importantly, practical help, is directed towards the people of Ukraine. Most others are missing out. Regards Gerard
