    Rumpl blankets?

At a similar price, I took a NanoPuff blanket, sewed the foot to make a box, and wound up with a light, rectangular “bag” that I used successfully on my last Camino last September… It compresses pretty well and insulates even if it gets damp…

    Let's talk waist packs!

Try a Jansport… I’ve worn one for 5 Caminos… $12 well spent. Two zippered pockets hold my passport, some euros, my cellphone, etc. Right in front, buckled under my pack waist belt… I like it!!

    A Tiny Bottle of Liquid

I take about 10 pills a day... mostly supplements, but 3 that count. Several Caminos have been a month or more in duration. I bought small plastic pill bags that seal and placed a days worth in each. Placed all in a clear plastic tub. Double waterproof and low mess. The empty bags went back into...

    The defining moment ?

In 2012, I was asked to give the Baccalaureate Address for my granddaughter's high school graduation. As I prepared, my main goal was to not embarrass her or humiliate myself, but I also took the gravity of the situation very much to heart. During the process of preparing, I considered the...

    Camino Ingles September 2013

We walked the Ingles last June and I have very fond memories of Antonio and his parents at Meson do Novo. They were gracious, helpful, and made the two nights we spent with them simply a joy! Breaking up the trek with a day without a pack was enjoyable, too... Buen Camino!

pretty sure i am leaving the camino after tomorrow

In June of this year, my son, grandaughter and I walked the Ingles. The first day was cold, wet and windy. It was pretty miserable. At one point, my 18 year-old grandaughter had tears streaming down her face and was questioning what we had gotten her into... but, she persevered. My grandaughter...

June 2013 Bucket List, advice wanted.

In June this year, we broke the Bruma stretch into halves and stayed two nights at the Meson do Novo... where the hospitality was simply wonderful and the accomodations as clean and neat as could ever be desired! Without packs, the second day's walk from Cafe Bar Julia back to Meson do Novo was...

Did your Camino fail or exceed your expectations?

In late June this year, my 43 year-old son, my 18 year-old granddaughter and I walked the Camino Ingles from Ferrol to Santiago. The seven days we spent on the camino were difficult, but we were successful! Those two weeks in Spain were probably the last time the three of us will ever again...

    30 L (28L Actually) Pack big enough -- Or 40 L better ---

I recently used a Gregory Z 40 on our Camino Inglese and had plenty of room. I did supplement it with a fanny-pack turned front-wise across my belly, and the fanny-pack also worked well for all the smaller stuff I used frequently during the day... like camera, cash, sunscreen, lip-balm, etc. My...
