What’s doing at the Pilgrim Office...

I see the counter on the Pilgrim's Office website hasn't been updating itself for some time now. https://oficinadelperegrino.com/en/ Does anyone know why?

    Shoes in mid-October

Hi, I'm going to be walking from Santander to Oviedo in a couple of weeks and plan to wear Asics Trail Running shoes. I've worn similar shoes on the Irun to Santander section and also from Porto to Santiago and never had a problem.

    Setting off

Hi Nuala, That Santander flight on the 1st is not on the list of Ryanair cancellations. I was looking at booking the same flight on the 8th but went with Aer Lingus out of Bilbao on the 7th instead due to the uncertainty.

    Irish Bar

Hi, Apologies for replying to an old discussion but I'll be visiting Santiago this weekend and would like to watch a rugby match on Sunday the 23rd at 13.00. Can anybody suggest a bar in Santiago which would be open and which may have Sky Sports or beIN Sports? Thanks.

Northern Caminos guidebook in Leon or Oviedo?

Hi, Is this any use to you? I thought it was great when I walked from Irun to Santander and it looks to have a good section on the Camino Primitivo: http://tourism.euskadi.eus/contenidos/recurso_tecnico/aa30_folletos/en_def/folletos/2011/santiago/Caminos%20del%20Norte%20INGLES.pdf

    And I am off...........

All the best Michael. I'm planning to walk from Oviedo to Santiago next year so I'm interested to hear how you get on.

    Planning Porto to SDC September

I walked via Rates last month and there were enough arrows to get me there without issue. The only problem I found with the section to Rates was that some of it involved walking on the road and there was quite a lot of traffic on the morning I walked it. Maybe it was just the time of day with...

    Dublin Airport....

Dublin Airport is my nearest airport and assuming the first flight arrives on time then you should have no problem at all in making it down to where the Ryanair flights go from. The Ryanair flights all go from the end of T1 furthest from T2 but you should still be fine. The Ryanair gate numbers...

My Camino Portugues Itinerary: Your Thoughts?

So I'm just back after completing the Camino Portugues in 8 days and probably could have finished in 7 if the hotel I booked in Santiago was also available a night earlier. The stage to Padron was a pretty short day and I would have liked to walk further. It was pretty easy walking with not...

    dreadful walk,awful people,

And all the food along the way is terrible and drinking the inexpensive Vino Tinto in the sun is not very nice at all. ;)

    Introduction to the Camino Portugues

Hi Stephen, I liked your Pilgrimage 1 (Porto - Santiago) blog. It was useful as I'm walking that myself in a couple of weeks.

Cycling Lisbon-Porto (13-19 May 2016) then walking on to Santiago - company welcome

Hi Hans, Did you mean to post a screenshot of your Ryanair booking number?

    Need a Portuguese wine suggestion

That looks interesting, I must try some on my way to Santiago. ;)

Urgent Advice Needed - Coastal route VS Central route

I'm not sure how well the route is marked but it looks like it's well explained in the latest John Brierley Camino Portugués guidebook.

Urgent Advice Needed - Coastal route VS Central route

I'm planning to walk Porto to Santiago in 7 days and that will walk via Matosinhos to Vila do Conde on my first day. I think I'll then join the central route until Santiago. It makes for some long days but I think it's possible.

Urgent Advice Needed - Coastal route VS Central route

Start out from Porto by walking towards Matosinhos and onwards to Vila do Conde. This will bring you along the coast and is about 34KMs. From Vila do Conde you can join the central route as it heads towards Barcelos and onwards. If you want to stay on the coastal route for longer then you'll...

    Started from Valenca this morning

I'll be walking from Porto in a couple of weeks and think I will post some "live" updates.

Porto to Santiago in 10 days?

These stages look OK, I'll be trying to get from Porto to Santiago in 7 days next month. Have any of you done that?

Irun to Bilbao or Bilbao to Santander?

Sorry, just noticed your question now. I didn't think day 1 was too difficult at all really but I'd rate day 3 as the most difficult walk I've done. I found it harder than anything on the Camino Frances. It was a pretty warm day too which didn't help but the section from Deba to Markina-Xemein...

    Spend some time in Porto

Apparently egg whites were also used making wine which also left a lot of egg yolks to be used up. This was the case in Spain and explains a lot of their desserts\sweets. I'm guessing it was also the case in Portugal...
