Route variations between Alto de Erro and Zubiri

Niels, you are spelling the hotel name incorrectly. It is Akerreta, as is the small, small settlement/village where it is.

If it ain't Dutch, it ain't much! Right? 😂😂😂

Route variations between Alto de Erro and Zubiri

@mspath - Lo Siento I searched my photo catalog for 2012 and 2014, but cannot find anything that looks like a match. I was surprised that in my 2 year gap, there were several places that seemed to have disappeared or changed. There were certain places that Beth and I both remarked were...

Route variations between Alto de Erro and Zubiri

Note: The Hotel is in an old communal oven site, and the larger cooking pit forms the center of the structure. It has been lovingly cared for by the owner/managers who live on the property.

Route variations between Alto de Erro and Zubiri

In 2014, the flechas led directly past the Hotel Akerreta, where we stayed for the night. So glad we did: met some cool folks (with whom we are still friends), had a lovely room and dinner, shared some stories with the owner who was a Jai Alai player here in Florida for years under the name...

Rest Day between Leon and Sarria

Astorga. Beautiful and unique town. Fabulous Bishop's Palace and nice cathedral. Laid back, restful. And you'll need a day off after trying Cocido Maragato (https://casamaragata.com/), for the hearty peregrinos. Buen Camino

Absolutely great video. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes.

Way too overwhelming to book beds/rooms (mid july - mid August, frances)

Good advice above. Smart to book your first couple of days at reasonable (easy) distances. After that, we used booking-dot-com for private accommodations as needed. I know lots of folks do not like those web sites, but they are most convenient (which you pay for, slightly), and easy to use from...

I remember doing that, after 6 straight rain days in Galicia. Next step was to fill them with ground coffee to eliminate the huele mal. o_O

Diabetes and the Camino de Santiago - a study from Penn State College of Medicine

I just completed it as well. Made me think that the diet and exercise on the CF is great treatment for diabetes. Don't forget your meds. I had A-fib when we walked in 2014, against my doctors wishes. But I promised to be sensible and take care of myself (and if things got bad there are beaches...

    How to get weight down

I don't want to sound flippant, but by the time you get to Pamplona you will have gotten rid of anything you don't need. Buen Camino. Enjoy the walk.

    Merrel MOABs

Same as you. Once low cut MOABs, second time MOAB boots. Smartwool socks both times; changed socks everyday at mid day, without fail. No problems. Burning feeling on the soles of you feet cold be a diabetic symptom. Happens to a friend of mine, often. My guess is it's not the foot wear. Good luck.
