Sending deposit to Gite from the US or Canada

I booked our first week of accommodation in 2014 and just explained that it would be difficult to make a deposit since we were in Canada. They all accepted that, so no deposit was made, but some of them asked that we reconfirm by phone or email two days before arrival.

    Montreal du Gers Accommadation

We stayed at La Maison des Agapanthes in the fall of 2014, and highly recommend it. We had a large room and private bath. The meals were wonderful, as was the presentation. In fact, it was one of our favorite places when we think about the food on the walk. Bon Chemin!

    Blogging on the Via podiensis

Your blog is great, and the photos are beautiful. We walked that route last fall, and the cepes were a highlight. Enjoy the Aubrac plateau - hope you have good weather for it as we did. Bon Chemin!! Linda

How late in September can I start from Le Puy

We arrived in SJPDP on Oct 17 last year, and noticed a few places had closed by then, or were preparing to close. Some of the hosts were very tired and looking forward to their holiday! We were phoning ahead for reservations, so if they told us they were closed, we were able to contact another...

Bon Chemin to both of you!

Question for t2andreo or anyone else with the Sea to Summit tarp poncho

We have been satisfied with our StS ponchos, which we bought in 2013, so I assume they are the older model. We also had a problem with the snaps coming undone too easily, so I machine sewed the snaps permanently shut, and that worked well. We shook them well after taking them off, folded them in...

Ankle injury just before my camino starts

My husband sprained his ankle when we were on our Camino, and after resting it for four days in Burgos, he was able to walk again. We did shorter distances for several days, and the terrain was flat, which helped! The suggestion of having your pack transported is a good one, especially over the...

    Our Journey Continues...

I will enjoy following your blog as we walked this route last fall. The scenery is spectacular! Enjoy. Bon Chemin, Linda

    Sleeping bag in September?

We were fine with just silk liners last Sep/Oct, as the gites provided blankets or quilts, and it was hot weather at that time. Bon chemin! Linda

10 Days on Camino Le Puy - which section should we walk?

Hi Gavin! I'm enjoying your blog and it's bringing back lots of great memories from last September. You will like Bio Gite in Livinhac - the owner, Andreas is such a nice man, and while he was cooking us a delicious pasta dinner, he had wonderful music playing in the kitchen. We also avoided...

Sorry, forgot to mention that you also have to plan for the Sunday and Monday closures, as well as places closing in the afternoons.

Solo women walking Le Puy to Conques August 22nd to September 1st

Hello Kezzaann! We walked this route last fall, and would carry our snacks and lunch unless we were going to be walking through a town large enough to have somewhere to get food. Your MMDD guidebook will help you plan ahead for this. Enjoy the walk! Linda

Transport Service between hostels/albergues on the La Puy Route

Unfortunately I don't have the name- we were staying in a very nice Chambre d'hote in Barcelonne-du-Gers (l'Hospitalet du Cosset) and our hostess called on our behalf. Linda

Transport Service between hostels/albergues on the La Puy Route

We walked the GR65 last fall, and many of the French pilgrims were having their bags transported. We also got a ride one day with a transport van, although space is limited, so you need to make arrangements in advance. They seem to be very efficient, although we did not use them for our...

Accomodation along the Le Puy way- Le Puy en Velay to Conques

In Estaing we stayed at Chambres d'hotes Lamarelle - email :lamarelle12@orange.fr Phone 0670881661. It is not in the MMDD. We were having trouble with availability in Estaing, and I believe someone gave us the number. Nice room and breakfast. There is a website too.

Accomodation along the Le Puy way- Le Puy en Velay to Conques

Here is a suggestion for Espeyrac - Chambre d'hotes La Maison Viala. We really enjoyed staying there last September. The hosts are a very nice couple and speak English. Their email address is as follows - asso.espritlibre@gmail.com It is located right on the GR, just past the town. It is also in...

    Cele Valley

The GR goes right by Pech Merle, so we walked to it - it's a fairly steep climb to it from Cabrerets, but the view is great. We had not booked a tour ahead and consequently could not get one in English unless we waited for quite awhile. They gave us an English guide booklet to use though, and it...

    Cele Valley

Hello edandjoan! Here are our stages in the Cele and where we stayed: St. Eulalie - Chambre d'hotes Les Anons du Cele (recommend!) Marcilhac-sur-Cele - Gite d'etape Accueil St. Pierre Le Bout du Lieu (just before Cabrerets) Chambre d'hotes Un Jardin dans la Falaise (recommend!) St. Cirq - Hotel...

    Cele Valley

We walked this varient last September (22nd - 27th). We thought signage was good, but still managed to get lost leaving Beduer! It was no problem, as we just walked the road until it connected with the GR. Accommodation was definitely more challenging, as the villages are very small, so we...

    Booking ahead?

Hi Eilish, We had beautiful weather with highs in the low-mid 20's. It was 25 on Oct 17 when we walked into SJPDP! Not sure if that is typical, but we sure enjoyed it! Cheers, Linda
