Home again, home again, jiggity jig. So I've returned home from the Camino. I made it half way and messed up my achilles tendon. 73 euro doctor visit and two rest days later I realized I was running way low on money, so I made the decision to go home. There were other issues that contributed...
I am now in Roncevalles and I already have learned quite a few lessons on this journey. I have asthma and I did a lot of panicky last minute addons to my rucksack. That turned into a hellish first day of walking. I had to stop constantly to reach for my inhaler. I made it to Orisson, but I...
Thanks Wayfarer. That's what I figured would have to happen. It's mostly to keep my folks from freaking out, although they are freaking out now knowing they won't be hearing from me for a few days. I'd just as soon not have a phone at all.
Thanks for the quick response!
Buen Camino!
I am boarding my flight in 5 and a half hours! Last minute panic detail is my phone. I lost the sim card! Is it easy to find a place in Paris that sells international sim cards? Maybe at the Charles de Gaulle airport? I really didn't want to waste any of my short time in Paris trying to...
Thank you so much! I'm so glad I started this conversation. I leave in 4 days and in moments of nervousness(which is now rare as it has been replaced with excitement) I come on her and read all the kind words of wisdom.
Buen Camino!
Hello all! I am less than two weeks away from my Camino!
I ordered compeed on Amazon a long while ago, but while tracking my purchase saw that I wouldn't receive it until after I left for Europe. So now, I am looking for a compeed alternate that I can find state-side, preferably something I...
Thank you all for the words of encouragement and for sharing some of your more personal stories. If i even half the peregrinos I meet are as kind as the people on this forum are I am in for an amazing camino.
This is what I want most of all. In my past travels there have been moments that went wrong, moments that made me cry as I am quite sensitive, but when it is all said and done, all I have is beautiful memories of places, feelings, food, and people. Thank you for the words of advice. I'm back...
It wasn't really a panic attack, but today I am 13 days away from getting on a plane and touching down in Paris to begin the biggest adventure of my life.
I'm a worrier by nature, but every couple of years I say "Screw it. Life is too short," and I do something that scares me.
Trips I take...
Thanks for all the suggestions! Normally I like to sleep in as little as possible and since I will have a sleeping bag I think a tee-shirt and underwear will do just fine. I imagine people are used to seeing others in their skivvies sharing a space so small.
What do pilgrims sleep in? I know the goal is to keep the weight down, but has anyone brought a pair of lightweight pjs for nighttime or do we just sleep in our clothes?
Much thanks
Laura-Lee
I'm 30 years old and I bought a pair of walking sticks on Friday. I'm leaving for the Camino in two weeks. EEEK!!!! I have always had weak knees so along with knee braces I bought these. The salesman told me a woman who had done the Camino last year had come back to thank him for...
Thanks all. That is great news about the bus! I'll be catching a flight to Madrid at 5:30 from Vigo. I'll be spending my last night in Spain in a very nice hotel in Madrid since I have an early morning flight the next day as well.
Hello fellow pilgrims! I don't know what I would have done without this forum! I have received so much great advice here!
I have a flight out to Madrid from Vigo in August. I'll be in Fisterra. Is there a bus that runs from Fisterra to Vigo or should I book a train ticket?
This is my last...
I am 1 month and 2 days away from the biggest trip of my life! I received my train tickets that will take me from Paris to SJPP and it's feeling a bit more real. I don't usually get anxious until a few days before I leave for a trip. It still doesn't seem real despite all the plans I'm...
I have to fly out of Santiago to Madrid the 14th of August. I'll be in Fisterra for three days prior to that. Can anyone give me some information about the bus that goes between Fisterra and Santiago? How long the drive takes, how much, etc.
Thanks!!!
To Julie, Alan, and Dazzamac,
Thank you for your responses! I look forward to meeting more people like you on the Camino. Dazzamac, I will be walking the Camino in July as well! Perhaps we'll run into each other! The only expectation I have for the Camino right now is physical pain :lol...
I have tried several times to book a train ticket from Paris to SJPP and everytime I get this response....Paris Cdg Airport to St Jean Pied De Port
Our online rail system can't find tickets and schedules for this trip.
What's going on? Are there alternate ways to get from Paris to SJPP...
