Could someone share where I might find a new credential Gijon. My partner has decided to join me to finish the Norte in April and while I will continue to use mine from last year she will need a new one.
Many thanks in advance.
I find the shape of the Osprey stuff sacks is more useful in my pack than the rounder Sea to Summit. I just sit in them to do them up so they expand to fill the space available to them as I walk along.
It was definitely cold with some super windy and rainy days. Accommodation had some availability challenges but the Spanish people were helpful and friendly as always.
As a less travelled camino some locals I spoke with didn’t even realise that they lived in a camino.
Overall we enjoyed the...
Yes, we stayed with Ray & Rosa two nights before leaving Cercedilla 9th March. Another couple from Madrid also staying had driven up the weekend before to check the snow situation and said it was clear.
It seems that in those two intervening nights it had snowed followed by sun followed by more...
Wow! We are Aussies from Canberra who are spending a quiet week on Waiheke to recover from a less than kind 2023.
We love your beautiful island and it makes my heart sing to know that there are other pilgrims ‘lurking’ nearby.
Happy walking in 2024 everyone!! 🥳🎉🥰
I walked my first camino in 2013 and my 9th in September this year. It is absolutely addictive for me and despite other walks around the world there is nothing with the same mix of walking, accommodation, hospitality and variety of fabulous people and sights. Not to mention those huge G&Ts at...
We walked in March this year. The pass from Cercedilla to Segovia was covered in snow for many kilometres. It was very slow going despite our walking poles due to the ice about 10 cm below the fresh snow.
We had done our research and been informed the pass was walkable but there had been two...
A fellow Norte pilgrim mentioned in passing that one should be careful continuing on to the Ruta Do Mar & Ingles if you collect Caminos because the pilgrims office is tricky about ‘double dipping’.
I didn’t pay close attention but wondered if others might share their wisdom or if in fact it was...
I am having a great deal of trouble getting the Buen Camino app to download offline maps. Any advice welcome.
I know I used offline maps with ease on the Frances years ago but am now struggling on the Norte.
TIA
We walked the Sanabrés in February 2019 and saw very few pilgrims but the way was beautiful and we had no trouble finding accommodation. One night we stayed off stage and the chef at the only bar in town was suddenly ill but we managed with G&Ts and potato crisps and lived to tell the tale. 🤣...
Love my Ferrino Trekker poncho. I prefer walking in cooler weather and it doubles as extra warmth over my sleeping bag on freezing nights when heating is off.
Being able to leave it hanging from my pack in the on again off again rain is a blessing.
Heading to my 9th camino and it’s the first...
I am considering the Norte mid September myself, because I am hoping that it may be significantly cooler than the Frances … am I dreaming … and would any temperature difference (if there is one) play into your decision making?
The Gastrobar Cafe España in the town centre is also fabulous. We ended up having lunch and dinner there (with a break in between 🤣).
The woman behind the bar was so friendly. Her mum was the cook and her partner the chef. The food was excellent she kindly provided very good local red wine for...
We had a fabulous night at that bar @DoughnutANZ especially at the end when the place was closing and their 3 year old was helping her dad wipe down all the tables. Such a family effort!! 😊
