Walking a camino after knee replacement

At age 64I had my rt. knee replaced July 2011 and my left knee replaced Oct. 2012. I walked the Camino Frances in April/May 2013 with no issues. As far as doing pre op training, I wasn't advised to and didn't. The operations themselves were not an issue and only took pain meds for 2/3 days. Went...

While my friend and I walked the Frances 'by the book' and took 600 pictures between us. When we got back and reviewed our trip, I decided that the 'by the book' was just getting from point A to point B and although the Camino was the best trip of my life. I will do the Slow Frances in about 63...

    Hiking sandals or hiking boots?

I hiked the Camino France in Keen Newports with no problems other than rocks getting in the shoe. For my next camino, I have switched to Drew Warren which comes with an insert. One of the few sandals that will allow the use of an insert. I use a Superfeet Trailblazer insert instead.

My wife has medical issues but the she knew the Camino from her upbringing in Puerto Rico. I did the Fances as her Dr. wouldn't allow her. Her Dr. gave permission to do the Sarria to Santiago. Hiking Sandals only?

I have worn Keen Newports for most of the Camino Frances with socks and no big issues. You will pick up small stones along the way. If you are wearing Keens with toe covers make sure you get the 1-2 size larger so your toes don't bump on the down hills. If you wear your regular hiking shoes up...

How to get to SJPDP from Pamplona

Besides the bus you can take a taxi. More expensive but if a pilgrim is on your flight/ train to Pamplona you can share the taxi and fare. Took the taxi in 2013 and again in 2017 and got into SJPP early afternoon vs later in the evening. Buen Camino
