Ah, Thanks for the update Frederico -
Thanks for the update Federico, would you have gone over the fence if you hadn't missed it? I'm leaving with my son in May - and am debating... thanks! - John P
Wow Kevin - this guide is outstanding. I'm hoping to walk the Ruta de la Lana with my son this spring. Depending on how much time I can get off work, I may need to start from Cuenca. Having got most of my information from Spanish sites, mostly outdated - it was a real gift to get your updates...
Would anyone know if one could stay at the refuge in Valenca one night and then Tui the next for the equivalent of a rest day? Would the the Tui refuge have a problem with that?
Just curious :?:

Hi John,
I would be curious on your take from Salamanca also. I'm debating on where to start and was considering Salamanca, but maybe I should do the same as you did - and just start from Seville and go as far as I can.....
Thanks,
JOhn P.

Skye,

Thanks Marcus! - The information was very helpful. The refuges on the Camino Frances were very full? Was it miserable for you?
Also, how far did you have to walk along within sight of the new freeway that they were building after Salamanca?
Thanks again!
John P.
Can anyone share their experience between Salamanca and Astorga? I'm hoping to take that route next Dept/Oct. Many take the beautiful Ourense route.... but what can I expect cutting up through the maseta to Astorga?
Thanks,
John P.
Here's my two cents (for what it's worth:
I put a thin layer of patroleum jelly over my feet (inbetween toes too) and then put on a thin synthetic sock liner - which I then slid into a heavy cotton sock. At the end of my walking day I'd wash my feet then rub them with ISO alcohol.
