Hi All,
It's lovely to be poking around this forum again! Has anyone walked the Frances, detoured south from Astorga and hooked up with the VdlP route through Ourense to Santiago de Compostela? I walked the Frances from SJPdP in 2007, and am finally thinking its time to scratch the itch and take...
Im in Torres del Rio tonight and good God do I hurt. I think I did about 30K today, big mistake. But I arrived at Los arcor rather early so decided to go on to Somport, my guide said 6K. Well it was extrememly hot and with no shade, and I sure it was much more than 6K. Took nearly 2 hours, then...
Hi everyone!
Arrived in Cizur today after spending an easy day in Pamplona. Doing well but taking it very easy as I´ve developed a swollen ankle and severe foot cramp.
There are many pilgrims on the camino rifght now, but so far I have not had any problems finding accomodation...
Well, wish me luck! I am off tomorrow morning and can hardly believe it! 2 days of travel, 1 day od rest and then start walking May 18th! May the Universe grant me courage, determination, and the ability to find beauty in all that I experience. Thanks again, a million times.
Jerome, I hope to...
Heading out May 15th. Two more sleeps for me! :D Thanks to everyone here and Buen Camino to all other may babies! Hope I may see some of you on the road!
Lauren
Thank you all for your kind words (especially xm). Up until yesterday I had sleeping about 5 hours a night, finishing finals and working too much. After sleeping about 14 hours, the world is a better place! :D
I still don't know why I have to do the camino exactly, but I do, and what is...
Am I really that whacked out? Hmm, I guess my nerves are getting the best of me.
It's funny, I've been walking quite a bit these last few weeks and never gotten a single blister, even in the mountains. But just today, I was feeling sortof "disconnected" and anxious, so I went out for a...
Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this but...
I am leaving to walk the Camino Frances from St. Jean in one week. I still wish to walk that route if possible. But in light of recent information about the Frances allready being crowded, I think it might make some sense to consider...
 I thought there were not supposed to be so many people until Galicia this time of year! Why are there so many people and the refuges filling so early allready? This is really extremely distressing to me to hear. I leave in one week! Do I need to bring a sleeping pad? Tent? I can't afford...
Really? Only 18 euro for a taxi from Bayonne and it only takes 15min? How much does the train cost? :o Is a taxi safe/OK for a non-french speaker? (Well, I know a little) I might be able to make it in time for dinner after all!

OK, this post is more the ladies.... seriously....
I've hesitated to write this, but after some trials "in the bush" I think I have to share...
There is a product called the "magic cone." It's basically a thin, waxed cardboard ergonomically-shaped tube that comes collapses...
xm,
Gore-tex rain gear is hard to beat. It's great stuff. It often has a membrane inside that wicks consensation and keeps you more comfortable, too, since even goretex is not totally breathable. Sometimes it weighs a bit more, but the real high-end stuff can be great.
The pants I got are...
Bob, I am starting from St. Jean May 18. I'll actually arrive lateish MAy 16th and take a rest day before starting. I think so, anyway. Maybe we will overlap or be starting the same day? If so, it will be nice to recognise a face on the first day!

P.S. Sierra Designs make very light...
