Hi there. Has anyone used the taxicamino.com service? What was your experience? Are there any other carriers?
I'm walking the Primitivo in two weeks' time and a friend may join me for a portion of it, but she's concerned about carrying her backpack for long distances, especially given the...
Ok, thanks Nancy. I was wondering whether I should just go directly onward to Irun but I'm glad I chose to spend a night in Bilbao (I will spend one more at the end of my trip).
So that settles it for me: I will need to find a way to send my suitcase from Bilbao! :)
Peace.
Edgar
Hi all, is this document still available for peregrinos? I start the Norte (Irun) in a weeks' time and would be very appreciative of documents that include maps, albergues, sights, etc...
Thank you!
Edgar
Hi there. I plan to walk a portion of the "Norte" (Irun - Bilbao) and then do the "Primitivo", starting in Oviedo. My journey in Irun will begin on Sept. 19.
I will fly into Bilbao on Sept. 17, and spend the night there.
On Sept. 18 I will bus to Irun and spend the night there before...
I will be arriving in Irun by bus either on September 17 or 18 from Bilbao. On the following day I hope to begin my Camino (combination of Norte and Primitivo, ending in Santiago). A few questions:
1- I plan to travel with the ALSA bus line. Does anyone know if I can catch the bus at the...
I will walk a portion of the Camino del Norte and the entire Primitivo. I've heard that trinkets and souvenirs (ie - shells) are mostly on the Frances. If anyone knows which town/city along the Norte or Primitivo has some available I'd greatly appreciate it.
Buen Camino,
Ed.
I see that lots of people bring crocs despite the fashion faux pas they seem to present.
Question: does anybody bring their well-worn, comfortable birkenstocks along as their evening footwear? They're certainly not stylish, but I'd imagine they're lighter (but I really don't know), and...
Hi there, could anyone clarify? It sounds to me like some of you are taking 3 pairs of footwear on the camino:
1- boots/cross trainers - for the hike
2- crocs/sandals - for walking around town (open toed, to give feet much-needed air/respite)
3- flip flops - for the showers
Most of you...
Hi again. Does anyone know about transportation connections from smaller towns (like Bolibar, Ziortza, Markina, or Gernika - all in the Basque Province, along the Camino del Norte?) to cities like Bilbao?
My plan at this point is as follows: Irun - Bolibar/Ziortza along the Camino del Norte in...
Thanks Laurie. I'm now considering a slightly longer trip: from Irun to Bilbao (including a stay at the monastery in Zenarruza), and then bus to Oviedo and do the "Primitivo" in its entirety. The Primitivo seems to be a historical walk (it's one of the oldest and most original), and that's...
Is the luggage transfer/storage from Oporto to Santiago option still available? I clicked on the link provided by Ivar and it didn't seem to work. I'm contemplating doing the Camino Portugues from Oporto to Santiago starting on approx. Sept. 20.
Thank you all for your kind suggestions. I'm leaning towards the Camino Portugues (in addition to the monastery at Herbon, there are a few at or near Pontevedra, if I've heard correctly elsewhere), but have not decided yet. I've heard that there may be a few monasteries between Irun and...
I'm 42, and in relatively good physical shape. I'm planning to walk the Camino for 10-15 days between Sept. 20 - Oct. 20 of this year. I have never walked the Camino before, and since I'm only walking a short distance (approx. +/- 300KM), I would prefer not to walk on the Camino Frances (I...
