Hi Peter, its still on the agenda, but might be delayed as my bladder cancer is still being monitored at this stage, but I’ll be out there as soon as I can. 😊. Best of luck for October.

    What is Your Marching Music

This is mine. Trad Galician Camino songs. Some in Latin, some in what I assume is Galician or medieval Castellano? http://www.sonusantiqva.org/i/L/NewLondonC/1989PilgrimageSantiago.html Also the monk who sang this at mass in Samos planted and earworm that stayed with me for the rest of that...

    Valcarlos route

And don't feel you'll be missing out by taking the Valcarlos route. While the views are not necessarily as dramatic, the scenery is still wonderful. Valcarlos is a pretty little town with all the facilities you'll need. There is the albergue, as others have said, although I stayed in a lovely...

  9. Richo

    Private room and bath required.

Haha re the lower bunk requirement! That's for sure. Seems we're in the same boat regarding the radical cystectomy. you're a couple of months ahead of me. I'm probably overthinking this. I'll likely not give it another thought by the time I get to Alamaden de la Plata. Good luck with your next...
  10. Richo

    Private room and bath required.

Thanks Gerald. I usually leave in September, but I'm now thinking March/April for that reason. Possibly 2023, more likely 2024.
  11. Richo

    Private room and bath required.

Thanks Jenny, Good to know there are so many private rooms available, that's encouraging.
  12. Richo

    Private room and bath required.

Yes......as far as albergues are concerned, I'm ok with staying in a dorm, but its the effect on others that I'm more concerned about. I'm familiar with Gronze, but not with Godesalco, so I'll check it out. Thank you.
  13. Richo

    Private room and bath required.

    thank you 👍
  14. Richo

    Private room and bath required.

Camino Frances 2014 and via Podiensis 2017 completed, I am now considering a third Camino in September 2023. I had my bladder removed due to cancer in May this year and I now use a (quite large) drainage bag overnight. This would probably freak out a lot of people in a dormitory, AND it needs to...

    Don't the clothes shrink, though???

I don’t like mummy sleeping bags

Tassie, I just had a look online - this bag is also a mummy type, right?

I don’t like mummy sleeping bags

I think that might be the way I'll go as well, for my next Camino. I bought a 900 gram mummy type bag a few years ago. One of my worst purchases. I like the fact that you can use your bnag as a blanket, which is what I will probably do.

LIVE from the Camino March 15, 2022 - Via de la Plata, Camino Sanabres & Fisterra/Muxia

Annie, do you mean the RENFE tarjeta dorada or is there another government one?

    Crisis of confidence

I agree with the above. The vast majority of the people you'll meet will be friendly. If you're shy and not inclined to talk much - no problem!I I have found that most people are more than happy to generate most of the conversation 😊. Long pauses are fine too. Interestingly, I got on great with...
