Love this article and totally agree with every word. The couple that plan together stay together. I walked the Frances last year with a Lady that was not my partner but a friend that shares my passion for walking. We trained together before and had an agreed plan that managed our different...
Osprey replaced my Exos after I finished my Bibbulmun track 1000km after only 47 days use because some mesh had worn. I will only use Osprey packs now. I have a 36 ltr Osprey that I use for my Camino journeys and this year will be No three :-) very happy.
Hi my Name is Hedley and have done two complete Camino Frances and I am now planning to do the Via de la Plata Late March to Late May 2015. I would appreciate any help and advice at all. The only thing that is fixed are start and finish dates. Slotting this in between 2 important weddings and my...
The simple solution I used last year was to get together with other Pilgrims when my gear needed washing/drying to make up a full load and share the cost between us.
It is not that difficult at all but the best option is to break it up by stoping over night at Refuge Orisson, which is a wonderful stop over. By doing this you have a short but fairly steep first day but only 7.5km. The following day is an equally easy 18.5km just take your time. I walked it...
If you think you have Bed bugs in your gear simply put your back pack with everything in it into a black polythene bin bag. Tie the opening up and leave in in the sun on a bright sunny day. This is mother natures Microwave and should kill the little suckers.
Hi Trevor
Whatever you do don't use a Sim card bought outside of Spain you will be ripped off with roaming charges etc.
I bought a Vodafone sim in Pamplona, Spain and had no issues. I believe the package cost about €25.00 but that gave me a lot of usage. WiFi is available practically...
My Camino experience exceeded all expectations. The people I met, both Pilgrims and Locals, made every moment of my journey an event to rejoice in the human spirit. I have lived and worked in many countries and met some exceptional people but The Camino brings out something indescribable in...
My Camino was an experience beyond expectations and the people I met, both Pilgrims and Locals, along the way made that experience. I have never encountered such generosity of spirit from such a diverse collections of humanity as you meet on the Camino. I have worked and lived in many countries...
That is ridiculous, Sorry to hear of your unfortunate encounter. Snoring is so common I doubt there is anyone that does not or has not snored. It is a simple fact of human physiology. That Lady certainly is going to have a hard time because there will be snoring in EVERY Alburgue regardless...
Hi Jim/Karin
I believe it the route from Pamplona to St Jean does go thru Roncesvallez.
I am arriving from Australia via Madrid to Pamplona and my flight arrives at 8.55 pm on the 15th April. I am planning on staying in the Hostal Bearan, Calle San Nicolas 25, Pamplona then departing in the...
Hi Sandra / Heather,
Thanks for the meeting. I met with some interesting folk and hope to meet up with at least 2 of them on my walk. I Finally got my 1000 mile socks, the last piece of kit for my walk. I'm now good to go, can't come soon enough, 19 days till I leave & in 21 days I'll be...
Hi Sandra / Heather
I hope to be there I am setting off from SJPdP 16th April so would be interested in any info I can gather.
Cheers, Buen Camino.
Hedley
Sounds good to me Rob, hopefully we will meet up. At the moment it looks like I will overnight Pamplona 15th, Taxi SJPdP 16th register and set off up the hill. So a strong possibility I could end up in Orisson 16th as well.
Hedley
