    I found that distances between stages on apps were generally a 1-2 km less when compared with distance measured on my Garmin/strava. I wouldn’t get too fussed about it. It can often be a few Km from one side of town to the other.

    I stayed in the Casa and had a great stay. The young women who served us were great. I wouldn’t be dissuading people from staying there just because a couple were having sex the night you happened to be there. That could happen anywhere.😄

    I believe Ryanair pulled out from the Santiago to Edinburgh route only recently 😔. It was my most convenient return to Glasgow.

    Get a city map and walk the perimeter of Madrid or as much as you are comfortable with. On our recent 3 day break in Madrid we walked the west half and the following day we walked the eastern half. Taking in most of the sights.

    Ordering beer in Spain

    Both are standard. The cana is about 200ml and the copa is about 300-330 ml size. I think if you just asked for a cerveza you might get the smaller size. Note the different info in post above. I was told the information I have given by a barman in a small bar.

    I’m just back after 18 nights in 6 Spanish cities. My ordering of a beer was simply a “copa cerveza”. I would say this was regular size, a cana was a small beer.

    You could bus into Bayonne for accommodation and start the Camino from the Cathedral with requisite Credencial stamp. I will do this in September

    It looks like you can purchase a Tarjeta Dorado for one year on-line. It gives you the 1, 2 or 3 year option. Separately, can you use a digital card or do you need a physical card.
