    Espiritual Variante/ Camino Portuguese

It runs from Vilanueva de Arousa . . . but the time varies with the tides. This is the website of the boat I took to Padron https://www.labarcadelperegrino.com It was a lovely ride passing many crosses along the banks of the river commerorating the route Saint James took towards Santiago.

    Espiritual Variante/ Camino Portuguese

I walked from Porto - Santiago using the Variante Espiritual and received my compostela without any difficulty late May this year. Loved this route, and thourougly enjoyed the boat ride from Vilanueva de Arousa to Padron. Check out the "HOPE HOUSE" donativo for lodging near Vilanueva de...

Which route to walk if we're only doing the last 100km to Santiago?

I highly recommend Camino Portuguese starting in Tui Spain (Or even better across the river from Tui in Valença, Portugal). Valença is an easy 1 ½ hour train ride from Porto(great little city). Once you reach Pontevedra, you can opt to take the Variente Spiritual which includes the Pedra e...

    Esposende to Casa de Fernanda

Back on the way :-))))) so happy!!!

BlueSocks Hostel is Great! Right on the river in a wonderful part of town. You might consider taking the metro out of town towards Matosinhos to avoid a long, not so pleasant walk out of town. Also consider the Variente Espiritual once you reach Pontevedra in Spain- very very nice. Be well!!
