When did you start gathering/buying stuff for your camino? Patches, backpack, socks, guidebook, shoes an all else? I'm just SO excited but I still have 8 months...

When you reach/reached Santiago, what city would you fly out of? I looked at a plane from Santiago to Austin and no matter how early or late I book, its at least $2,000. However, if I take a bus to Lisbon (51€) and then Lisbon to Austin it's $840. HUGE difference. What city worked for you...
I've been trying to search for someone who has posted a March and April camino list but can't seem to find one. Can anyone link me to a list? Pretty please :) I will be walking the Le Puy and Frances. I will arrive in Paris on March 3, 2014. Thank you in advance!

Just giving everyone a heads up that might still need some gear! $400 off some bikes, $60+ off some shoes, half priced socks, etc.

I know there have been deaths on the camino over the years. Some natural causes, some caused by ignorance, some accidental. Before you leave/left for your pilgrimage, are/did you make preparations in the case of your death (such as a living will)? Just curious to see who's thought about it or...
We all know it costs money from planes, trains, cabs, food, accommodation, and the in between. Just curious to see how everyone saved up money for your adventure? Just saving from your job? Mowing lawns? Babysitting? Overtime? I can't work so I'm doing various things from washing laundry...
Wasn't sure where to post this. I've seen many people talk about a chapter in Houston. What about somewhere near the Austin or surrounding areas?

I have read many times a good budget for the Frances is 30/day. What's a good budget for the Le Puy route?

I am definitely walking all of Frances but would like to walk some of Le Puy as well. I have the time to walk it all, just don't wish to spend that much time away. I was thinking somewhere in the middle of the Le Puy route, but what's a good city to start in?

It's absolutely pouring down right now and so cold ( it was sunny and 85 yesterday). As I was walking through the parking lot to the store, and getting rained on, I realized that "I am voluntarily going to walk many miles in possible weather like this. What am I getting myself into?" Not a...
Although my trek is 10 months away, I was extremely lucky with a cheap ticket to Paris. Just looking at the ticket was no big deal. Once I started purchasing and confirming, my heart started racing and I got so nervous and scared! I'm so excited but I still can't believe it! It's always just...
Not many people seem to look at the medial board, so thought I would quickly ask: Is English enough or should it be in another/multiple languages?

It's already started, still a full 11 months until I go and already getting the I'm crazy comments! Ha! It actually IS hard to explain the reason for going. I'm super excited. It's just frustrating because I can't explain how awesome this feeling...this calling, is! :D I am in no way defending...
I would love to watch all of the traditions of Holy Week! What would be the best town(s) to stay in? I know some have a little something and some have a big something going on.
Edit: Sorry, didn't mean this one but the one in 2014.
How long should I allow from the time I arrive in Paris to departing from Portugal? I want to visit Paris for a day, continue to Saint Jean. Then to Santiago. Then Finisterre and Muxia. Then visit Portugal for 3 days. Also enjoying myself for 2 days during Holy Week somewhere in Spain.
What...
What are some common insects in Spain/France during March and April? I am deathly allergic to bees, wasps, scorpions (even though not an insect), etc. I have shots for it, but just want to be prepared.
What are some really bad insect problems that would be in Spain in March and April? Ants? Bees? Mosquitos? I am allergic to all insects but bees, wasps, and the like I am deadly allergic too (but have shots to counteract the reaction). Just wanted to know the risks?
