Help wanted — forum “point persons” for Wise Pilgrim Apps

I would also be willing to help. I'm a big fan of WisePilgrim.

I have caught the Camino Bug.

For me, the walk from Lisbon to Porto (2016) was the only Camino I did not profoundly enjoy and would not recommend. There is a lot of road walking and many Portuguese drivers are not mindful of pedestrians. That said, I have walked from Porto to SdC twice more (different routes) and found...

    Bad Pilgrim starts from Alicante!

Oh, man .... and I thought it was hot for walking in Alicante back in early April.

    Favorite sun protection shirt?

I just finished hiking the Sureste (with a few meanders on the Levante) and the Sanabres caminos, wearing a Solumbra (out of Seattle, Washington) Safari shirt. It isn't cheap, but it has a mesh panel on the back, mesh insets under and along the arms, extra loose cuffs, and offers very...

LIVE from the Camino Pilgr on the Levante

I am currently in Manaya and will stay in San Clemente tonight. Mostly happy and in good shape except for heavy-duty blistering slowing me down considerably. Your reporting and comments are awesome. Keep it up! James (Dkpond)

I have such an umbrella and I can tell you it helps, but not all that much.

Is There A Map With Both Levante And Sureste

If you have Google Maps, you can download two gpx files from Traildino (free) and you will have the route clearly marked on your phone. I can post the link if needed.

    Albergues On Camino Sureste/levante

It is true that the albergue in Petrola has no shower or hot water. It is in a storage/work room attached to the church and is clean, though somewhat cluttered, but you will need to settle for a cold-water wash cloth cleansing.

Hotel Fuente del Cura in Sax and on and on

Sorry for the delay in responding. For some reason, I can't seem to access these forums on my iPhone. We stayed in a hotel that was listed in a Sureste Guide that someone gave me in Alicante, but I forget the name. Leaving town was no problem, but mainly because I have the gpx file on Google...

Hotel Fuente del Cura in Sax and on and on

We decided to go by way of Yecla and it was well marked and quite a nice walk. It is true that there is no albergue there, however.

    Albergues On Camino Sureste/levante

There is an albergue in Petrola where I will stay tonight, but I have read somewhere that it has only cold water and that there is no shower. I'll try to report back later. Note: the albergues in Orito and in Montealegre are exceptional. Villegas is nice too but a bit small for three...

LIVE from the Camino Pilgr on the Levante

I stopped by the Friends this evening and had the very good fortune to meet JLWV in person! It was truly a gracious and warm welcome. I was surprised how active the office was, with quite a number of people to obtain information on the Camino(s). I want to state for the record my gratitude...

Thanks for the good information, Pilg. I'm in Valencia now. Two rest-tourism days and off I go.

LIVE from the Camino Pilgr on the Levante

I agree about supporting the Amigos and I bought their guide (in spite of the fact that there is a Spanish version that is more up to date free on the web.) That said, it is pretty difficult and expensive to buy their guide if you are in the U.S. More importantly, it weighs almost 500kg .. over...

Wow. I just realized that I will be visiting the Amigo's office in just one week. I better finish packing.

Matt, Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to do these postings and updates. My April 2nd departure from Valencia is less than a week away and you can bet that I've been following your steps and making notes. D.Pond (James)

Yes, very helpful indeed. Notes taken for my informal "Guidebook Supplement." Thank you very much!
