Seeking a pilgrim I lost touch with...

I hiked the Camino from April 28-May 29. I became friends with a wonderful man named Xaver from Germany. He was retired and used to work as an accountant. He gave me his email and we even confirmed it with each other but it keeps bouncing back. Has someone else on this forum come accross...

    Is a lock necessary?

Would you say that it is necessary to bring a combination lock in order to lock stuff up in lockers? Is it a wotrthless item to bring? Not sure if there are lockers at the albergues or if there are enough albergues with lockers to warrant bringing a lock. Any feedback on this? Thanks.

School work/Summer school during the Camino...

So I'm currently in third year of my university degree. I have registered to do an 'easy' online course beginning May 07 and ending July 25. My Camino will commence late April and end late June. This means that if I choose to keep this course and complete it I will have to use a computer once a...

My Camino: An escape, from my mind

A couple of my favourite movies are Into the Wild and Tracks. These true life stories depict people that were traumatized by life situations. Their need to get away from people and venture into the wildness of nature was a way to deal with their feelings of being an outcast, of not fitting in...

Where to leave my pack upon albergue arrival?

Hi everyone, Firstly, I am so grateful for the assistance people have been giving me by sharing their wisdom and advice with me in answering my many questions. For that, I feel I will be taking more than simply myself on my Camino. My question: I'll be travelling by myself, so upon my arrival...

Hi everyone. It's not official yet but it looks like I am probably going to get the time off work in order to do the camino. It has been a dream of mine since watching the movie "The Way". I am looking into where to start from. It sounds like most people start in SJPP. But I can't find any...

Can we stay at Albergue's for days at a time?

I just want to confirm with people that have done the Camino that staying at albergues for several days is allowed. For instance if I decide I want to take a couple of days to recuperate or if I stumble upon a beautiful part of Spain that I want to explore and bask in, will albergue's allow me...

    Breaking in shoes and boots

How long would people recommend I break in my shoes/boots so that it'll minimize the chances of blisters. I am completely new to being a professional hiker. Can someone recommend the best boots or shoes to wear for a long hike such as this Camino. Thank you so much. Noto.

What time of year is there the most pilgrim traffic? From what I have read on this forum so far it seems as if the general consensus as to when the 'best' time of year to walk the camino is late April to May as the weather is kinder and the smells are fragrant. However, when is there the...

    Wildlife in Spain

Hi everyone. I am very excited to start learning about how to plan for this camino. My question is: What kind of wild life do you find on the paths in the Camino de Santiago? Here in the canadian wild (Alberta) we can find moose, bears, mountain goats, deer and others. Does Spain have...
