    Numbers on Camino Finistere

We have just returned from doing the walk to Finisterre - it’s beautiful, it’s quiet but there is a steady stream of pilgrims. Really enjoyed it.

Our stages on the Camino del Baztan

[June 2018] Agree with you about Lantz @NualaOC, the walk from Boerreta is gorgeous. Uphill but mostly through forest and heavenly. And we had the same experience in Lantz re asking about eating out, the shopkeeper told me there was nowhere. But having read your forum posts I got up the hotel...

Our stages on the Camino del Baztan

[June 2018] In Espelette we stayed with the wonderfully named Andy Le Sauce - he's a visual artist (aka Andy Le Bleu) and the ground floor area is also a gallery. A v interesting host https://andylesauce.wordpress.com/ The following day we walked to Urdax but there is no shop there and we really...

Our stages on the Camino del Baztan

Hi @NualaOC, we're back from the Balzan and to such an unexpected Irish heatwave! It was a terrific experience, and I would love to do it again sometime. Pamplona was a bit overwhelming after the peace and quiet and beauty of the Balzan route. Once, in Lantz, we had the albergue to ourselves and...

Thank you for that heads-up @NualaOC - stuffing the rucksacks right now, flight in the morning. Can't wait!!

Thank you @peregrina2000 - am checking that out right now. We're going for two weeks, so will continue on from Pamplona - not sure yet where we might finish. Really looking forward to it.

@NualaOC Thank you for noting all of the delights of the Baztan Camino - you've inspired us to try it out and we fly out on Monday!

    No room in the albergues!

The albergue I mentioned above is the Orion in CASTROJEREZ and I can vouch for the showers - terrific.

    No room in the albergues!

We're this evening in an albergue in Castrojeriz that as I write has lots of available space at 17.15! We've walked from SJPDP, started 2 weeks ago, no booking ahead, and got beds each day without any difficulty. Buen Camino

Need a larger backpack - advice please

I have bought the Osprey Exos 48! I like it's roominess (esp in the hood), the way it can be cinched to keep it streamlined, the clever use of space/storage and the light weight of the pack itself. Other packs that were suggested (like the Kyte) I couldn't get here. So, like all decisions, I had...

    Albergue in Roncesvalles (revisited thread)

    I'm reassured and won't book - thanks @SYates, @Kathar1na, @marklee

    Albergue in Roncesvalles (revisited thread)

@Katharina I had no idea we would need to book accommodation at Roncesvalles -we will arrive at SJPDP on Tues next 13th and plan to walk to Roncesvalles on Wed 14th. Would it be wise to book then? Buen Camino

Need a larger backpack - advice please

Hi there, thanks for that enthusiastic endorsement - I'm getting the feeling that the Ospreys have a loyal following. I'm going to investigate them, but will likely try to get one with an integral rain cover as I don't wear a poncho. Buen Camino

Need a larger backpack - advice please

Thanks Nuala - yes I'm familiar with the 53 Degrees North stores in Dublin and Cork and have found them to be good. Buen Camino

Need a larger backpack - advice please

Thanks Spursfan - I don't bring a fleece or a sleeping bag. Just as you said, a light rain jacket, rain pants and a silk sleeping bag liner plus merino layers that I use as the occasion demands. Buen camino

Need a larger backpack - advice please

Hi Nuala, I live in the south east and have to travel to either Dublin or Cork for specialist gear - both about an hour and a half from me. If you have any recommendations for service/expertise? Also I'd prefer to wear the boots if possible, they seem to suit me. Buen Camino

Need a larger backpack - advice please

Thanks SY - I've been looking at this and it seems v good. Is there an integrated rain cover? I just don't see it mentioned in any review.
