Hola! Today, I finally got my laptop updated and cleaned up and I am back on the Forum!!! I could not get on for the past few months. Also, after a successful open heart surgery for a valve replacement (15 months ago) I am returning to Spain to walk. SOOOOO excited. I am going with two close...
What the heck. Since 2% of the population has Bicuspid Aortic Valve or BAV, the most common congenital heart defect, I thought I would start a new thread under Medical Issues. I am not quite ready for replacement surgery yet but have been told that I can not walk anymore Caminos until AFTER...
I don't really have anything to add to all the recent information on way marking and accommodations. "Kinkyone" has provided so much recent detail, and I am very grateful for that and his support too. I just want to add some of my very personal impressions.
I walked the CdM the first two weeks...

Any chance of finding a shop with poles on CdM? Last year I picked up my single (cheap) trekking pole in Pamplona, but my trusty sidekick did not make it's way home with me.:o
I would like any thoughts about these two routes which join the CF. I know they will both be challenging for me in two ways; language and how solitary they are. In the future I will try Le Puy and Portuguese, but for now I want something different joining with something familiar for fall 2014...
Hola! I went alone, walked from Roncesvalles to Santiago in 40 days, and it was a wonderful experience! My 25 year old niece met me in Sarria and together we arrived in Santiago on my 60th birthday, it was awesome!
I am so grateful for this forum, the support , the advice, the information and a...
It is SO close now. I leave for Madrid on Sunday evening. I see the sun rises in Madrid about 7:30 AM. I am now rethinking the need for a headlamp. I have a "flashlight" app on my iPhone, and a small keychain light as well, but nothing for walking. I am planning on walking short stages, so will...
Have been scouring threads and can not find this answer. Arriving in Pamplona train station on September 3rd and I guess will take a bus to Roncesvalles, my starting point. How does one get to the Bus Station from the Train Station? Is it close? Any help would be great, thanks.
Has anyone tried Acupuncture for Achilles Tendinitis? I am seeing a Physical Therapist, saw a sports medicine MD, had X-rays. My Camino training is not progressing due to this condition. Oh, I just got new insoles I really like. Any feedback about Acupuncture would be appreciated.
Thanks, Pam
I read on one of these posts a suggestion that has stuck with me. To start walking one or two French stages BEFORE entering St Jean, in order to "warm up" so to speak. Has anyone tried this? Possibly on Le Puy, maybe starting in Ostabat-Asme France? I believe that would be one day walking. Any...
Hello. Right now my plan is to begin September 1st 2013, SJPDP to Santiago, but curious about walking Madrid Route to Sahagun to connect with Camino Frances. This is my first Camino, walking solo, and a female turning 60 on route. Any thoughts about safety, infrastructure on the Madrid Route...
