Hi I am looking for my next Camino and like the look of this one starting in Seville. I am a solitary individual and comfortable with my own company. My last one was the camino Madrid which was very peaceful. My question is how many walk this route and would I be able to find my own space?
On my previous Camino's I have obtained my passport before arriving in Spain. However this time when walking the Primitivo I was thinking of getting my passport from Oviedo Cathedral. Can anybody confirm that you can definitely get one at the cathedral as I would hate to not have one as I need...
Well flights are booked for the 11th April and start from Madrid on the 12th. Lets see how it goes with the accommodation or lack of. My third camino after Frances and Portuguese. Not sure how many fellow walkers I will see.
Leaving Lisbon on Wednesday and will be taking my Credential for signing and completing in Santiago. Did I see somewhere that you now have to book in on line and receive a number and time at the Santiago office to get your Credential completed. If so does anybody have a link to the site to...
Is there video out there or advice on how to put a poncho on and more importantly talking it off when on your own? I had a another make and really struggled with this.
I have just noticed that the Camino actually starts at the Church of Santiago in Lisbon and not the Cathedral. How many people start at the church as opposed to the cathedral? Starting on the 15 March and want to get it right.
See lots of posts about walking through urban environments and how some try to avoid this. Personaly I enjoy them as well as being out in the wild. Its interesting to see the architecture, wall murals and the way different people live. Starting the Portuguese from Lisbon mid March and relishing...
Well I have just finished the Corfu Trail as an alternative to the Camino's. I have walked the Camino Frances and several long distance paths and have to say this one was very different. Not so many miles a day but very rugged and surprisingly remote in places. Only saw 3 other couples walking...
Hi, I am thinking of walking the Camino Madrid next year and from the threads on here it seems that the Gronze guide is the go to place for information. Unfortunately I do read or speak Spanish. Is there an English version out there? Cheers. Dave
Hi, I walked the Camino Frances in 2019 and am planning to do the the Camino Portugal in September 2022. This year I am walking the Corfu Trail leaving the UK this September the 3rd. I know it is not a Camino but feel it will have the same feel and give me as much satisfaction as the official...
I have been planning to walk the Camino Portuguese in 2021 but I understand that this is a Holy year and people are already booking accommodation for this year. Would this only be for the period leading up to Easter or does it apply to the whole year. Also I understood that municipal albergues...
Hi I walked the Camino Frances east to west this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thinking of doing the reverse. If you get your passport stamped but in reverse can you still get your certificate? Cheers Dave
I fly out on the 20 March with Ryanair. I have booked my rucksack as hold luggage due to sharps and other stuff in it. I would like to take my walking poles on as cabin luggage which are about 60 cm when collapsed. Has anybody taken theirs on and was there a problem? They are too long to fit in...
Hi, I've obtained my passport from The Confraternity of Saint James in readiness for my walk in March. Do I need to take it to the passport office in St Jean Pied de Port to get my first stamp for it to be valid for the certificate at the end. Or will the accommodation I stay at for the first...
I was intending to take an old single sheet to put over the mattresses but am also trying to save weight. Do most places supply a cover on the mattress or if not what is the condition of them?
I am a bit concerned bed bugs and from reading some posts it is suggested treating your sleeping bag and bed sheet with permethrin. I have seen various sprays for sale that contain this but not a liquid form that you could add to a wash. Any suggestions?
I'm leaving St Jean Pied de Port on the 22 March and thought I would get my self in a bit better shape by losing a few pounds (plus exercising). So far since new year I have lost 10 lb and am now at 176 lb. Still looking to lose another 7lb giving a total of 17lb. By my reckoning that's 10% of...
