Beautiful stop for a first (or any) night. View is fantastic… nice communal meal… really gets you in the right frame of mind. Not to mention give your feet a break after the big climb. Enjoy!

Camino Portugues during Holy Week 2024

We walked/Ubered (caught Covid, so had to adjust) 2023 Holy Week. Spent Easter in Viana. DEFINITELY make reservations for Holy Week! You are competing with all of Spain & Portugal for accommodation… many native Spaniards & Portuguese have that week off & go on vacation. You can wing it if you...

    COVID My Camino Covid experience

My husband and I both got Covid in Portugal on our Camino. And we DID wear masks on the plane from the USA! My husband was exhibiting symptoms & tested positive in Lisbon. We trained to Porto (whee we were to start our walk) and I got symptoms there. Our Camino turned into an “Uber” from town to...

    Porto to Vigo questions

We did Porto to Santiago this year, booked ahead and also had baggage transfer. Used Pilbeo for transfer (5-star!) and they helped occasionally when we were stumped for accommodation. Walked in April - had no trouble finding paces to stay.

    COVID Covid on the Camino

We got it beginning May 2023 when we got to Lisbon - had planned to walk Portugués from Porto to Santiago. Mostly Uber-ed instead. And we were masked ALL the time. Fortunately had booked private rooms all the way, so we were able to keep moving. Enjoyed Santiago in health, and Paris for a week...

    Hiking with bad popped blisters

Happened to me my first Camino. Now get hiking shoes 2 sizes larger than normal. But on the trail, honked into a clinic. Doc popped the blisters, bathed in Betadine, taped 1/4 inch foam pads to blisters. Cushioned my walk - but I still took a cab for 2 days till the pain subsided a bit. Doc...

Luggage transport Portugúes Coastal route recommendations

PILBEO! I’ve walked many Caminos… in France, SPAIN, the Norte, Frances… just walked Portugúes in spring 2023 and Pilbeo was the BEST luggage transport I have ever used. Well priced, met all our stop requirements (we had more stops than the usual, and took longer) - also have a great app that...

    5 “Unproven” Facts About Norte

Did Norte in 2019 - agree about all the above! Especially about there being no flat land in Northern Spain… it’s either up or down, not much in between

Luggage lost during transfer. Advice needed

I just used air tags on everything - even located my sticks when I’d left them behind in a drugstore!! Invaluable little gadgets 👍👍

    I'm so discouraged!

OK - here’s my story: I’ve walked about 5 Caminos now, all in my late 60s/early 70s. My husband walked 5 caminos before he met me. He never had a blister in his life. Second day out, my first Camino, I had killer blisters the second day. Double Sox, lubricant, the whole deal - did all the right...

Did I just think of a brilliant way to never lose my walking poles again?

I used an AirTag on my poles this year - on the Camino Portugués. Only left them behind once, but could see exACTly where they were & retrieved them right away! No more guessing, “where did I leave them?!?” Worked like a charm 👍👍👍

Backpack transport on the Portuguese Camino

We just finished the Portugues Camino (from Porto) - used Pilbeo. They are the best! Others we talked to used someone else, were dissatisfied and switched to Pilbeo. Use Pilbeo!!

Reserving rooms on the Coastal from Porto. Necessary or not?

We are walking (just two of us) April 1-27 and we’re very specific as to how far we wanted to walk each day & where we wanted to stop. I booked more than two months ago (Nov.) and STILL had to make adjustments as places were filling up. We’re doing the coastal route. Remember, this is TOURIST...
