    Discouraged in Florida

I too am from Florida, and did my first Camino Frances when I was in my mid-50's. It is absolutely doable for us. I will warn you, that first stretch from SJPdP is best done in in 2 stages ( I did Orisson then Espinal). I tried to average about 25Km/day, but I let my feet make the final...

Ten Years Ago Since "The Way"

I can't remember when I first saw the movie, but I will say it brought the Camino to my attention. At that time I was so wrapped up in my life that I failed to recognize that I wasn't living my life, just passing the days. I started my research and 3 years later I completed the Frances. While I...

    Carry-on Size Backpack

I took my Osprey EXOS 38 on every airline (including Iberia) on my Camino without any difficulties.

Anybody know who these guys are?

I also bought their CD. They were a great finish for my camino. When I got to SdC, my emotions were so high, I couldn't get to sleep. Lucky I was walking the plaza at 2300.

is the first day as daunting as it looks?

My short answer to the question is...Yes... It is daunting. But that being said, and as many others here have said, it is absolutely doable at your own pace. I knew coming from sea level the elevation would do me in, so I stopped at Orisson breaking the "recommended" first day into two days. Do...

    Decision made

I took an EE Revelation 30Deg quilt. It was way too warm for April/May 2018. I am going to get the 50 Deg version for next year. I loved the versatility and quality of the quilt.

    Where to take rest days

I really enjoyed Burgos and Leon. Lots ofsights to see and FOOD.. Did I mention that I love to eat. I still haven't gotten over the food in Spain, even after a year. Don't plan... enjoy

    Practical questions.

I packed all my gear in a Osprey Exos 38 and still had room. I took 2 pair of trousers, 3 shirts, 3 sets of underwear and 3 pair of socks. Other than the shirt I left in Burgos, never needed anything else. And my pack size was "carry on". As far as soap etc carry as little as you need and pick...

rain pants for the CF in late april/may?

I did the CF April/May 2018 never needed Rain pants/gaiter... But I may have been lucky. I see them as added weight, not a critical item. IMHO Buen Camino

Pictures that show you totally outside your comfort zone on the Camino!

Living in Florida, this was way colder than I was used to, oh and it hailed too. But the journey was so worth it.

    Class of 2018

I am 5 days from flying out. So excited, 4 years of planning finally coming to fruition. I have to admit to making some last minute equipment changes over the last week. I think it's the loss of control I am feeling, so I know I can control the packing list. Hope to see anyone on the CF...

    My Camino Frances

Thank everyone for your kind wishes and comments. I have been "lurking" looking at packing lists and equipment suggestions, and have found a lot of helpful ideas from the veterans. Please forgive any silly questions I may ask of the forum as the time draws nigh.
