What happened to Forum member Alexwalker?

So please just to hear that you are (mostly) OK. Have a good trip, listen to your body and take care of yourself. Ultreïa!

    Jeans on the camino

You already have your shorts why not get a pair of sports/running tights/leggings and wear them underneath your shorts. If it warms up you can slip them off later. Win/Win! I won't add to all the doom and gloom here regarding jeans but most of it is true.

Camino Frances in March. Warm clothes

I'd ditch the fleece hood for a down jacket or equivalent (I have a Patagonia Micro Puff) as this will provide better warmth but pack smaller and, as said above, without a hood which is just a faff and you already have cap/hat/buff. Good Luck.

Managing Knee Pain: What Has Worked for You?

Many years of mountaineering and Morris Dancing wrecked my lead (left) knee and I had a half knee replacement eleven years ago which solved my problems. Now it seems the joint replacement was not correctly aligned and I'm back where I started and waiting for my knee replacement to be...

    New Gear

Your old gear will be fine, but uncomfortable, and may fall apart as you go along. New shoes/boots will be far more comfortable, probably lighter, give better support and may be waterproof too. Much the same for your pack as a new one will be more comfortable, carry better, waterproof etc. Ultreïa!

Sleeping sac - I'm looking for the lightest

I have one that's about 250g and stuffs down to nothing. It has a down filling and is excellent.

I'm sure Rohan will be able to offer you something suitable.

    Language barrier

I worked for a French company and it was important that I spoke French in meetings etc. However my French colleagues always wanted to rehearse their English so we had the bizarre situation of each speaking the other's language not particularly well. For European meetings the 'Official' language...

    Information about Pieterpad?

I researched this a few years ago but haven't got there yet. If you open the website in the chrome browser it will translate into English. Within the website is lots of useful information and a link to a cycling organisation that you can join who will provide a 'handbook' with contacts for a...

Winging it or Getting a Helping Hand?

Sorry, but I'm struggling to think of anything worse. Where's the spontaneity? Where's the opportunity to change things as you go? What if you want (or don't want) a rest day? I would only book a couple of days ahead but each to his own.

Looking for a small very light tripod for iphone

One of the Gorilla Pod series, the 'mini' might do the trick. I've just ordered on for myself.

    Camino from Montpellier

This is a Top Tip unless you enjoy walking g through dull suburbs.

Feedback on packing would be (really) appreciated.

What's the paracord/clips for? Not sure you need a balaclava. Stone?

Euro Phone Charger with Dual Output

I order these from the Amazon France site for delivery to me in the UK but they might not ship to Oz; your best option might be to buy when you get to Europe, there are tech shops all over the place these days. You'll not go wrong with Anker. Good Luck.

    Apple Air Tag

    Other location tags are available.

For those that post/blog/write while walking - doing it on your phone

I take a small, folding, Bluetooth keyboard with me when I'm travelling which solves this problem; it's light and compact.

    Please review my packing List

Top Tip: don't be tempted to fill all that lovely empty space in your rucsac.

28L pack on the Camino Frances this October

I have a Patagonia Nano Puff jacket and I think that it is the garment with the best warmth / packed size ratio of any I've had. It is my "go to" jacket and always goes with me when I'm travelling. Ultreïa!

    Needing a livestock refresher course

Always take care and use common sense, if you feel uncomfortable find an alternative route. Never, ever get between a cow and its calf.
