You could check out the wise pilgrim app for the Portuguese camino. It's a very good resource and has all the places to stay and the distances between them. If you look at that, you will be able to figure out what's possible for you to walk.
We did the Portuguese camino from Lisbon in 2017. We are from Vancouver Island so also from the west coast of Canada.
We flew from Victoria to Toronto by air Canada and then from Toronto to Lisbon via TAP air. For our return trip from Santiago, we took a bus to Braga, then the train to...
We used prepaid cibc visa cards in Spain and Portugal in 2017 and aside from the extra fee the bank took when we did that, they worked with no issues. I did just get an email from CIBC that they were discontinuing the prepaid cards and we needed to use the balance up by a certain date.
We walked the Portuguese camino in September 2017 and saw the results of the fires that happened that summer. There were many forested areas that had been burned. We were able to walk through them but it was clear that the fires had been bad.
I have a 36 litre
I'm 5'1" and walked the camino Portuguese in 2017 with my husband (I was 66). I have an Osprey sirrus 36 litre that suited me very well. The outfitters store had excellent salespeople who knew how to fit me with the right sized pack. I'm short waisted too. We are...
I have wide feet so typically have always have had to buy shoes a half size longer. So I wore a pair of size 6.5 salomons when we walked the Portuguese camino in 2017. It was a mistake. I had many blisters in the toe box. I have since bought a pair of salomons size 6 and they fit me so much...
We took 36L ospreys carryon on air Canada and TAP air to Lisbon in 2017 and they fit in the upper cargo okay. The backpacks weren't super full so maybe that made a difference. I don't think they were measured at the gate. We went to the airport the day before to make sure.
On Windy Maps the Camino routes are blue and red lines. The blue lines are the original route and the red lines are alternative routes. The lines are not seen unless you make the area really big on your screen. I prefer the wise pilgrim app. We used it to walk the Portuguese camino and it was...
In 2017 we travelled to Portugal via Air Canada to Toronto and then on TAP airlines to Lisbon. We carried our backpacks as carry-on with our foldable walking poles in the backpacks. We had checked with security the day before we embarked and were told that would be fine. So we never had any...
When we travelled from Toronto to Lisbon via Air Canada, we packed our folding poles (like the ones mentioned in your post) inside our backpacks and carried the backpacks in carry on. This way they don't get caught on anything and there are no visible hazards for security to be concerned about...
