Yes, I have been in Merida before and know what gem and fantastic place
it is, one really can connect with Roman times and more.
I...
I'm planning to do my next Camino (VdlP) in mid-September this year.
Arriving from Sydney in Madrid, I want to connect the easiest way to Merida,
to start walking from there. Who can help with bus or train connections, straight
from Barajas Airport?? I arrive in the morning, hope to be in Merida...
Hi Sandra,
Thank you for your quick reply. Looking forward to hearing more from you.
I do have a number of Qs already, your phone number would be appreciated.
Kind regards
Buen Camino

Hi Alexandra,
I'm just reading your post from Oct 2011, would like to know if you walked from Granada to
SdC via Merida.
I'm from Australia as well, Sydney, same age group. Did the Frances in 2008, the del Norte in
2011 and I'm planning this year to follow in T Kevin's footsteps, starting in...
Hi MP,
no, I didn't walk this section in 2011, I walked the whole del Norte from Irun to SdC, but started that
year on the Camino Frances. I walked from SJPdP to Pamplona (love this section through the Pyrenees), from there took a bus (2 Hr bus ride) to Irun to commence/continue the Camino del...
Hi Danielle,
seems you live downunder as well, I'm from Sydney.
I walked the Camino del Norte all the way from Irun to SdC this year early May to Mid June.
It's true some of the refugios/Albergues are still closed at this time, but majority is open.
San Sebastian was closed, I used the YH, Euro...
Hi all,
hope to find some answers for a friend who will be walking late 2012 from Pamplona to
SdC. As we live in Australia, we usually come with more luggage to Europe than we actually need on the Camino.
As my friend will be flying straight from Sydney to Barcelona, then by bus to Pamplona...
Hi there,
I walked the del Norte from Irun to SdC in May to mid-June this year. Obviously a much quieter
time than the summer months. I never had a problem finding a bed in the refugios. I would imagine that the period after the summer/holiday period is as quiet again, say from September...
Hola !
In a few days I'm leaving Sydney and will be on the Camino in a week's time.
God, I'm looking forward to my next Camino !!!!!!!
A Friend of mine wants to connect from Barcelona to the del Norte, preferably to San Sebastian.
Who can give me some advice on connection (Bus or train, cost...
Thanks for all your input.....very interesting to read all your experiences etc.
Hi Kathy, what is a bed bug's kit, what's in it and where do you get it??
Never heard of it here in Australia.
I'll be starting in Irun 5th of May and have to be in SdC by 10th of June, should be enough
time, so I...
Thanks Mike,
your experience or better the lack of it (BBs I mean !) is very encouraging. I'm looking very much
forward to a NON-encounter !
Viajero, thanks for your reply also, but where on the Norte in 2009 did you encounter BBs?
Thanx and Buen Camino

Hola and Hi everyone,
who can give me advice on this rather itchy topic "BED BUGS"??
I will be walking the "Norte" in May to mid June. Walked the "Frances" same time in 2008
and infrequently had encounters with BBs on route, not on myself, but with/on fellow-peregrinos.
Remember that most...
Thanks again to ALL of you!
Your feed back and ideas on this topic are very helpful and gave me
a few more angles to look at, when I decide what to take along in May this year
walking the del Norte.
I was soaked for 19 out of 29 days on the Frances in 2008, despite Poncho and Rain pants
and...
Hola !
When I walked the "Frances" rainpants and a poncho were sufficient.
I will be walking the "Norte" in May, wonder if I should invest in gaiters as well, as
the weather seems to be wetter on this route than anywhere else.
I wear Gore-tex boots, but do know that water will find its way...
Thank you all very much, Lillian, Alan, Lydia, Joy and Bev!
Your advice is very much appreciated, those web-sites Mundicamino and Eroski are
treasure troves! Great!
Buen Camino to you all
