Walking March 3-25, 2017 VdP from Seville to Salamanca.

Hola a todos, I am contemplating walking Seville to Salamanca starting on March 3, 2017. I walked from Salamanca to A Gudina in April of 2016 - snow/ice crossing the mountains to Lubian and then heavy rain caused me to not make it all the way to Santiago. All the locals said that the weather...

    Yak Trax?

I walked the VdlP this past April with snow flurries leaving Salamanca. In Granja de Moreruela you can continue on the VdlP to Astorga and join the CF or take the Camino Sanabres - I took the Sanabres. Heavy rain all day from Asturianos and paths were so flooded that I had to walk along the...

walking from Porto to Santiago this sept

If you are in Maia following the caminho is more logical to walk to Vairão and Vilarinho up to São Pedro de Rates instead of going west to Matosinhos and the coast:confused: unless you want to follow the coastal all the time northwards. In Vairão which is 14 km from Maia is an excellent albergue...

this is probably a dumb question, but...

I walked my first Camino in 2013 with no guide book, no maps and no elevation charts - I did get lost a couple of times, but locals and other pilgrims got me back to the yellow arrows. It was great fun not knowing exactly what to expect!

Checking Backpacks or Taking as Carry-ons

I carried my Osprey 48L backpack on American Airlines to Miami & on to Madrid last year. I had to put my sleeping bag in the main compartment of my backpack in order to meet the carry-on size limit. In addition to your carry-on, you are allowed to carry on a small personal bag. Upon arrival...

What are "must do's/haves" before departing the states?

Josh, you can lose your phone, your tablet, your camera, your backpack, etc., but if you have your passport, a debit/credit card and some cash you will be OK. Buy a travel money belt to keep that super important stuff safe. Wear it under your clothing, keep it in bed with you at night and...
