When people decides to walk Camino de Santiago, many also starts making changes in their life: Often it's about they stopped working, had a divorce, wants to stop smoking or drinking, loose weight or stop being on-line all the time and/ or having less stress in life.
About the "constant being...
On my recent camino to Finesterre and Muxía, I noticed a lot of writing on the Camino-stone; Names and mantras etc., but why ??
If it's just because it was fun in the moment, a better option would be to take a selfie of you and the stone and make a update online.
I don't think other pilgrims...
Camino de Santiago is a good place to practice Mindfulness, so don't bring a lot of electric gear with you.
The Silence and being present is good for you, so leave the mobil and/or tablet switched off most of the time.
Hi,
Yes I remember the "siesta Mastiff/Shetlandpony-mix" on Camino del Norte, not many watchdog-manners left there ;) Biggest danger was not to see the long doglegs sticking out.
The caminodog from Chantada on Camino de Inverno, which followed me for 8 km, was a Mastiff/Golden Retriever-mix, but...
Got my camino-name while walking Via de la Plata from Seville. Every morning I was wearing my Helly-Hansen fleece with the letters HH.
I walk in a fast pace, and was often one of the lasts to leave the albergue og one of the firsts to arrive to the next, so passing the others on the camino, my...
I know , that owners of the watchdog-families, maybe wouldn't like the connextion, but there are some truth in it.
Buying a dog for the qualities to keep other people away.
But even a Golden Retriever can become aggressive in the hands of a bad owner. It is just a lot easier to make watchdogs...
On the Camino Inverno forum there have been a lot of writing about the loose aggressive dogs.
Northern Irish scientists (livescience.com) have discovered the connexion between choise of dog and temperament. It seems like aggressive dogs (Alsatian dog, Rottweiler, mastiff etc.) are chosen by...
It's a good idea to make a reservation at the private albergue in Santa Marina.
Pilgrims are arriving from 2 sides now.
More and more pilgrims walks Camino Finesterre-Muxía and back to Santiago again.
Camino de Inverno goes through many small hamlets/villages with loose dogs. It must be possible to make some small changes of the camino, so pilgrims and dogs don't met so often as now, and to have a serious talk with dog-owners, where the meetings are a problem.
A public road is for everybody...
Very good answer, Laurie ;)
The Spanish Mastiff was the race, that was most aggressive of the many dogs on the Inverno.
I know, that Asún in A Rúa wants Camino de Inverno to be an alternative to the very crowded Camino Francés, so she was taken the critic, good and bad, very seriously. All 5 of...
As you know, I had my own friendly camino-dog all the way from Chantada to Penasillás. Just before Pensillás a group of cows and the farmers wife passed me on the road. The Chantada-dog was scared of the cows and made a big detour in the field and followed me into the village. The group of...
"Dogs behaving badly" on the Inverno:
In Villavieja (End of hamlet), Santalla del Bierzo (Start of village, owner in house on right, dog is little and very aggressive), Vilarmao (White house on the right just before farm on the right, owner in his 30's, daughter around 7-8 years old, 2 dogs, the...
But some of them are willing to attack you, and the owners have no control over the dogs, and some of them just don't care.
In Denmark dogs like that will be removed from the unqualified owner and put to sleep (killed) by the autoritories, if reported!
I think, it will be a good idea with more...
We all met the great barker in the small hamlet of Villavieja (so it's still there ;( !) and the stupid owner! The dog was easy to scare away.
I met loose dogs every single day on the Inverno. So a lot of barking all the way !
A every morning I met hunters and their dogs.
If I should return soon...
On the camino, you don't need to bring with you a lot of things. Walking with your backpack gives you the freedom to change your plans during the day. If you send your backpack you can't make changes, and sometimes you will have to wait for the backpack to arrive in the afternoon. I would never...
