You mentioned to another post wanting it in advance so you’ll know how it packs/weight, etc. I ordered mine from the store in SJPdP and had them hold it until I arrived. This poncho packs small and is very light weight. You should have no worries about packing if getting on arrival.
As others have said, take your time and remember this is your Camino.
I have walked both routes (Napoleon 2015 and Valcarlos 2018). I did not like the Valcarlos route. Some have said it’s easier or flatter and that is complete rubbish (IMHO). I stayed in Valcarlos and walking from SJPdP was...
My best moment was in September 2018 between Castrojeriz and Fromista.
First, let me give the backstory. I walked the CF in 2015 and my husband in 2016 (we had always wanted to do it together). When my husband walked, he met an Australian "Tony" and saw him multiple times during his walk. My...
David, the number of coaches is crazy. The number of pilgrims is also quite high. I walked in 2015 and my husband walked in 2016 never having to reserve a room. We are walking together and right now we are in Astorga. We have been staying off stage (mostly) and booking every night ahead by about...
We are staying at the Errecaldia in St. Jean on the 6th. And I emailed the albergue in Valcarlos yesterday to reserve 2 beds. They had openings for the 7th. I didn’t want to chance it since there’s only the one albergue.
Hi all,
I wanted to check in and see if anyone is departing SJPdP on Sept. 7. My husband and I have each walked the Camino Frances (me in 2015 from SJPdP and husband in 2016 from Pamplona) and now we are getting the opportunity to walk it together. We can't wait to take this journey together...
When in September? My husband and I will be departing St. Jean on September 7. I walked in 2015 and he walked in 2016. And Casa Magica is one we plan to stop (on husband’s recommendation from his previous stay).
Congratulations! I remember my first Camino in 2015. I had some trials but it was amazing. I never thought I’d do it again, but I’m starting in SJPdP with my husband on Sept. 7 (his first was in 2016).
Hi Meg!! Yes, I am the Tina that you and Anne walked with the first few days in 2015. It's so good to see you here. I'll send you a message updating everything here.
My husband and I are going to do our second Camino leaving Sept. 7 from St. Jean. My first Camino was in 2015 from St. Jean to SdC and my husband's was in 2016 from Pamplona to SdC. I had some issues with blisters as my feet are soft and no matter what I do, I can't seem to toughen them up. I...
Hey all - hope everyone is well. My husband and I have each walked the Camino Frances (me - May 2015, hubs - Sept 2016) and we are planning to do it together this fall. I've been looking for the latest Brierly Guide (or at least trying to find out when the next one will be released). Amazon has...
Yes, he did indeed pass away doing what he wanted to do. My husband said that he started last year and when he got to Burgos, he had an infection in his legs that halted his camino. So this year, instead of beginning in Burgos where he ended, he began in St. Jean. He commented several times how...
