LIVE from the Camino Finding a doctor ...

Thank you everyone - great advice and support. I do appreciate it all and it has given me some options. In the end I decided to get on a train to Sàrria from Pamplona. One day rest in Pamplona and one day kind of resting on train has removed most symptoms. I reasoned that SdC would be as good...

New annual record number of Compostelas issued

Maybe C*mp**d should sponsor an albergue or 2 ! Many walk without a single blister, so I would go for 600,000 !

LIVE from the Camino Finding a doctor ...

I have a history of kidney stones and if I have one growing, walking seems to jiggle it up. Which seems to have happened again. I am in Pamplona, only have 7 days left so jumping forwards to Sarria to finish walk off. Currently using pain killers to manage the situation. If it gets worse, I...

I've not been in Devon much, sorry. Unlikely to be around in September but have a good meet-up and I will watch for the date in case it is viable

    Cycling sleeves for walking

Absolutely a good idea. I use them and would definitely recommend them. With respect, this is total rubbish. That might be the likely use, but they can be worn any time of day when warmth is needed. It is an extension/combination of the layering / multi-use principle. The sleeves make the...

Where to start two week Camino in October

I have a similar dilemma. I really want to start from SJPdP ... but this requires giving up hope of reaching SdC I also really want to reach SdC ... but this requires starting from e.g. Leon If I can't have what I want, I'm thinking of keeping CF to another trip and exploring other routes such...

Has anyone walked with a front pack?

Thanks for the illustration - very useful I'll think about this some after doing more test walks

    Walking poles solution....

I'm intrigued about the practicality of checking in poles. How do people wrap ? Outbound flight is easy but when returning, what materials do you use? Presumably one doesn't want to carry these. I don't envisage taking a rucksack where they could be put inside or attached and then wrapped with...

Has anyone walked with a front pack?

Thanks @Glenn Rowe I did a test of connection to the bottom of the waterbladder but it only partly worked I think shoulder strap is the solution Although I also found I had not used the side tension straps to cinch the pack top inwards - doh! Together it sits very well Problem solved it seems...

Solo Trek on the San Salvador- AMAZING!

I'm walking again in October. Was goign to re-do some of the CF, then thought maybe the Portugues, now this makes me think about the Salvador. Is this normal ? I don't consider October to be winter, but maybe the altitude makes it more inclement.

LIVE from the Camino Castrojeriz to Santiago in 17 days!!

40km p/d is achievable. Maybe not sustainable. In a similar situation I would do a couple of hard days - they will still be fun - allowing you to enjoy the rest at more reasonable pace ... and above all feel more relaxed about hitting the deadlines It's not so much about completing the journey...

Has anyone walked with a front pack?

"Pack droop" : a curious affliction affecting ambitious ultra-lite hikers ! Thanks for the tips - will research those. And you've made me think whether the D-rings can attach to the lower straps of the water bladder. Not sure if I want them to be linked together - pro's and con's. But the...
