I read through most of the replies, and didn’t see this anywhere so here’s one more thought for you: simply learn to gracefully say “today I’d prefer to walk alone”.
I have walked 6 caminos and I have developed lifelong friends all over the world through this. But I have never had what some...
I don’t normally reply to
religious posts on here but your answer cried out to me. Lol. I am a pastor (retired) in a very conservative evangelical church. We have not met so your answer is still true - but I wanted you to know we are there. I have walked 6 Caminos (2 Frances, 2 Primitivo 1...
The first two times I flew in and out of Paris. Then I realized that multi city tickets are basically the same price as returning from the same airport.
And I love Porto.
So now I fly Montreal to Madrid, then Porto to Montreal. Porto is an easy 2-3 hr bus ride from Santiago
Last year after...
I have used Duo faithfully for 778 days and I can say it works. When I did the Primitivo in Sept 2022 (9 months in to Duo) I started EVERY conversation with “Estudio español en Duolingo y me gusta practicar”. After the first phrase (estudio in Duolingo” they would start to smile (or laugh) but...
I used esim from a UK company called Sparks. You can set it up in various ways. For me it worked best to initially buy a Spanish package and then a smaller one fits when I was in Portugal. But you can also get a European package … and more.
The ONLY issue is that it is data only, so had no p...
“Too much shoe”??
I have walked 6 Caminos (2 Frances from SJPDP to SdC, 1 Portugués combo of Litoral and Central, 2 Primitivo and 1 Português Central walking in reverse from SdC to Portugal). In addition I have walked SdC to Finisterre 5 times, SdC to Muxia 1 and Muxia to Finisterre 2.
The...
While this doesn’t directly answer your question here’s something to consider (I have flown from both Ottawa and Montreal - if you choose Ottawa you will most likely have to make connections in Montreal or Toronto anyway). But on to something to consider - Here’s what I have done my last three...
If you are wanting to walk on the Camino but not necessarily finish in Santiago, I recommend the Primitivo from Oviedo to Lugo.
211 Km including 7320 meters of elevation changes up and 7034 meters down
most of that is the 155 Km from Grado (the start of day 2 in most guidebooks) and O Cadavo...
A little story to lighten the thread:
Walking toward El Burgo de Ranero in 2017, my wife and I were passed by biking pilgrims. They rang the bells as they approached from the rear, we moved to the right, and about 8 bikes went past.
A few minutes later, and they had stopped for a water...
Without taking time to read through all the other replies to see if someone else has already mentioned this, I only have two suggestions re your itinerary.
1 - stop at Estella rather than Villatuerta. There's more to choose from in the evening
2 - IMO there would be nothing to do in El Burgo...
Interesting note:
Many people use microfiber towels, but not many realize this:. They actually dry YOU better if THEY are damp.
Sounds stupid, I know - but try it out and you will see.
(This is something you might want to "try at home" first)
There was. I purchased the app (i think it was for my 2017 Camino), and it was the number one largest disappointment of any app I have ever purchased. Apparently the app did not belong to Brierly, but the rights to the info in the guide book was sold to an app producer (or some such thing)...
Thanks for the "thank you" I know how important Camino pics are - esp the ones that hold deep memories like these ones seem to do for you. Hope you are able to find them
Do you know what site you accidentally blocked them from? Face book? Instagram? what's app?
You might be able to do a google search for "How to unblock someone on (name of site)"
For example - here's how to do it on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/help/115916435160582/
To answer your question directly:. If you are satisfied with the price you will get when travelling from your current provider, you do not need a new SIM. If you think it is extravagant, then the options in this thread are worth looking at.
I'm in Canada. I'd rather buy a new car than travel...
What many (most?) People don't realize is that the microfibre towels actually dry better if you wet them first. Sounds stupid (
as I told my wife when she suggested I try it - lol) but it is true.
For reference I'm 65, but with none of the issues you refer to. If I did have those aches and pains, I'd SERIOUSLY consider starting in Pamplona. That would take out the Pyrenees with its very steep descent at the end of day one, as well as the very steep descent into Zubiri on day 2.
