    Camino de Costa Brava???

It seems wherever I go hiking in Spain since my camino adventure I can't get awat from yellow arrows and shells now. I've just spent a couple of weeks hiking along Costa Brava (February. Out of season - best time to visit). I kept noticing shells and arrows everywhere. But, Costa Brava? Where...

    Atlas de las Peregrinaciones.

This is a fabulous book. Just found it on offer in my local book shop in Granada. Reduced from €60 to €20 and worth every last Cent. It's in Spanish, but full of pictures for all non-Spanish 'readers'. Authors: Fernando Lanzi and Gioia Lanzi. Publisher: San Pablo. It gives information about...

    Walking from Africa!

:D This is an insane idea, but I don't care. I have invitations to stay in a village in Senegal. Although I have been telling myself 'enough is enough - no more walking' the idea of walking back via the Sahara and Morocco over a slow, long year is irresistable. If all goes to plan I will have...

La Crepe. Praza Quintana in Santiago.

I have to give these people a mention here, and a huge thanks! This is exactly the sort of place I would normally walk straight past. However, after an invite, I'll be going back regularly. Delicious. Good value. Beautiful service. Relaxing ambience. Honestly, I used to pay 10x as much in...

    Finisterra Accommodation? Cheap????

Ooooops! Posted this originally in misc' - sorry. I've been refused access to the municipal albergue (didn't walk all the way from Santiago) and it looks like the privates are closed. Any tips on cheap pensions/hostals? Only came here to do a painting for my next project, and I'm on an...

    Fisterra Accommodation? Quick reply appreciated!

I've been refused access to the municipal albergue (didn't walk all the way from Santiago) and it looks like the privates are closed. Any tips on cheap pensions/hostals? Only came here to do a painting for my next project, and I'm on an extremely tight budget - like €20 max for a bed. Thanks in...

    Laundrette recommendation

Instead of wasting your money and time in the self-service at Monte de Goto (bloody sterile, souless place) walk to Praza Roxa and find a laundrette called Aixña (I think). €6 for a whole load washed and dried whilst you go take a coffee :) Nice woman speaks good Englsh also.

    Alternative Walking Routes to Santiago?

Wasn't quite sure where to ask, but here looks OK. Please move if it isn't. I've finally stopped walking! My plan from here is to rent a place on Costa de la Muerte in Galicia for my next fundraising project. As well as painting pictures to sell for charity I hope to find time to compile a book...

    Rip-off Prices for Pilgrims?

I'm a bit peeved. There is a bar here in Santiago I visit regulary for a cafe con leche and copa de cognac to warm my soul when it's a bit cold. Very cold today and snowing. After Three hours of sketching the cathedral to muster up the grand total of €5.60 I decided to go to said bar for my...

Alternative Accommodation in Leon - Recommendation.

IMO opinion Leon is well worth a couple of days. A city I love with one of the friendliest, cheap hotels I've ever known. These people have been very generous and kind to me during my Four visits to Leon. If you fancy a break from the albergue scene, single rooms from just €18, twin rooms...

    Valencia to Cuenca?

Finally I make it to Valencia. I like it here. My plan is to stay for Christmas and NY to try and save enough money to get to Cuenca. Anyone know any existing footpaths? (from Valencia to Cuenca) Or, should I expect this stretch to be mostly Tarmac? Really looking forward to Cuenca - Burgos...

I like the look of this.

Walking my last camino of my project. Looking at the BIG map of Spain, there are just Two cities I would like to visit that I haven't yet been to; Valencia and Cuenca. So, I'm planning a route from Valencia via Cuenca starting this weekend. I'm all equipped with new winter togs and itching to...

    Bed Bugs/Clinches?

After a year of walking various routes and making use of albergues (those that let me in) I've just had my first ever bed bug experience. Turns out I'm even more allergic to them than I am to mosquito blanco (my initial suspect). On one hand I think be a bit lenient with the management. Even...

    La Coruña to Finisterre?

Is there a route/path? Or, is it just a case of following roads. I was planning a night trek, but I'm mapless and guideless and want to enjoy the beauty of the countryside anyway. Don't expect to find any cheap accommodation, but would be nice if there was a path to follow instead of all...

    A Question about Charities/NPO's.....?

Not sure where to put this, but here seems OK. A few reading here may be aware of my travels and blog. Doing my best to raise money for childrens charities as I explore Spain via pilgrimage routes to Santiago. After a prolonged break in Santander on Camino Norte (torn ligaments) I'm now walking...

What Do You Get from Your Camino Experience?

Other than sore feet and wobbly knees! I've been walking (and taking occassional cheating buses/trains) for almost Six months now. I've met many, many people on various paths with many various reasons and expectations from their journey. Personally, I had no expectations and have already...

Where Did I Go Wrong (Cordoba - Merida)?

Supposed to be Merida, but I managed to join the Via de la Plata at Zafra and I'm not exactly sure where I went wrong. I was definatley on track at Peñarroya. Spent the night in the albergue (a 8PM - 8AM lock-in). Couldn't find any markers to a sandero in the morning, so roughly followed the...

    Albergues currently closed in Santiago.

Haven't searched for this news, but thought I'd post anyway just to be sure. There are no albergues currently open in Santiago. The Semanario is closed for refurbishment until April 2009. The San Lorenzo albergue is just closed. There is apparently a new albergue on it's way, but it's way behind...
