Thinking of Cycling? It is your Attitude that counts!

My Camino Frances last year (May-June) sadly involved being startled by riders appearing with no warning multiple times. Three times I was brushed/swiped by passing riders coming a wee bit too close and once had a substantial knock. My experience was that those who rang their bells, seemed to...

No walking experience - have just decided to go - tomorrow. Help

Terri, last year I was 65 when I started from SJPdP in mid May. The 1st day to Orisson certainly got my attention due to the climb. The next day started out lovely but soon the clouds came, then the rain which turned ibto freezing rain, then snow. Soon the pathway became snowy, slippery and...

No walking experience - have just decided to go - tomorrow. Help

Terri, may the road rise up to meet you as you go. In truth it may be a less problematic start for your Camino if you started from Pamplona, given your state of preparedness. However, we each walk our own Caminos and know ourselves, so pray about it and make your choice. Buen Camino Philip

Camino Practice Walks 2013-2014. Final Update, before we leave!

I had my final practice walk today. The 16.5 mile Santa Rosa Road through the Santa Rita Hills wine country in Central California. Today's walk was brutal, as the temperature was in the 90's, topping out @ 99 deg. Fahrenheit. They say that anything that doesn't kill you, makes you...

    Vodafon

Tangential but related. Am I able to buy a Vodaphone for Spain, in SJPdP or are such devices only marketed in Spain itself? I need it for a burn phone, as my U.S. AT&T phone will charge mucho dinero for use in Europe. Philip

    U.S. type ATM/Credit cards

I was wondering whether there is an issue with Euro/Spanish ATM machines, accepting the U.S. magnetic strip style ATM/Credit cards? Philip

LIVE from the Camino Albergue Ettiquette

Other than snoring, which is hard to modify but can be defeated by the "Non-Hearing Aids", all the rest of the irritants described are behavioral. Unless confronted by Invincible Ignorance, most behaviors can be modified with a kind word.

Has anyone used the Camino Guide App 2.0 or the Camino Frances - A Wise Pilgrim App?

from what I can see, it seems that the apps are only for iPhone/iPad, not Samsung. Sigh....

Starting my Camino on May 12th

Hey Santiago_67, As I learned long ago, a plan is only good up until the time the operation begins. You may be quite right about my expectation of 30 walking days. I have 34 days available in total for the Camino. My training walks have averaged 18-20 miles per day, 3 times per week, for the...
