For baking…I can’t find extracts in Spain-Almond, lemon, even pure vanilla. Also Kalamata olives..there are similar olives from N Spain, but not quite the same.
I completely missed the “easier” option and took the forest route. It was beautiful and very peaceful as I was the only one walking that way; which was good because I kept declaring very loudly, “You’ve got to be kidding me!!” It was ridiculously steep. My knees were fine, but when I arrived in...
After living in the Campo of Andalusia for 7 years I can tell you that the most effective thing is to bend down as if you’re picking up a stone, while saying “NO!” You don’t need a stone and even if you have one, you don’t throw it at the dog. But that gesture of reaching for a stone seems to be...

Agree! I have a Kula cloth and I’m amazed at the absorbency and lack of odor. I snap it on my pack and can use it over and over. For me it’s been worth the cost.
If you encounter a dog, bend down as if to pick up a stone; universal understanding among Spanish dogs, is to retreat when a human bends down for a stone. I didn’t know this when I walked the Invierno, but now I live in Spain and it has never failed me! I did the Invierno on my first Camino and...
