Agree with comments about regular tea. However, infusions of manzanilla (Chamomile) with honey and/or lemon are generally wonderful! Also have had some truly wonderful homemade infusions of fruit pectins on those cold rainy days while doing a camino in late autumn. I remember being on the...
HI Lauren-- Been on that route several times, solo and with my sister, also with spouse and old friends from college. In Iria Flavia (just past Padron), there is the Hotel Scala. It os excellent. They have a large restaurant, so dinner is available right there. Ample breakfast was included...
Yes, it's sometimes very confusing. I know a couple who booked for a B&B in a tiny town in France and discovered that they were needing to drive many hours away to a village of the same name they intended to stay in, but in a different "department" altogether-- distressing situation for them...
I agree, having served as one of the hospitaleros. But I have known of albergue staff providing a towel to a pilgrim in case of an emergency-- lost towel, etc. I can't say if the staff simply lent the pilgrim one of their own towels. It just isn't usually provided in most albergues.
OK, go to https://www.vueling.com/en/we-are-vueling/contact/send-us-a-message
I would suggest scrolling done to "sending us a suggestion/compliment" -- they need your booking code, etc. I use this and similar methods to get a message when companies hide their email addresses. To be honest, I...
I flew Vueling, 6:45 Am flight from Santiago de Compostela to Barcelona and connection onward to Paris-CDG. I have used a CPAP for many years and never had a problem. I e-mailed Vueling and simply told them what I was going to do (take my CPAP as an extra carry-on)-- I booked flight over 6...
I walked that stretch in 2009. Several cafes and bars told me that they did not have an official rubber stamp. So I asked them to simply sign and date my credential and that was acceptable at the Office of Pilgrims. I entered Santiago de Compostela on November 8th, 2009 (so it was off season...
Very sad to hear this outcome, although hopefully he had some good experiences while on the trail and succumbed while doing something that could have been very meaningful to him. Yes, prayers for him are in order. My sincerest condolences to you and his family.
My spouse had total knee replacement in the year 2000 and was able to do fine with me and others on Camino Portuguese in 2011 (granted, it's fairly flat compared to other routes). We went slowly, no more than about 12 or 13 miles per day (20 to 22 kilometers), took ample breaks for lunch...
You will be fine. Several years ago, I did a short camino from Sarria to SDC as part of a longer trip visiting family, and got distracted talking to fellow pilgrims at the hotel where I was staying in Sarria. I actually forgot to get a sello from that hotel clerk and walked out and passed the...
Yes, I have personal experience with this. I walked one of my first Camino experiences for my brother who disappeared without a trace at age 14, presumed long since deceased by now. He was last seen on a Saturday afternoon, October 15, 1966. Two classmates told police they saw him two days...
Very glad that you posted -- I look forward to the day when my grandchildren, now ages 9 and 11, can join me on the Camino. I so enjoyed reading your story!
I had hauled my own belongings entirely in 2006, 2008, 2009 and part way through 2010. In 2010, I was beginning to develop some knee issues so I succumbed to being a luggage transport user with about 3 or 4 stages left, not wishing to chance BIG problems happening with one or both knees. I...
I’m also a CPAP user. I’ll be honest and say that since using it, I’ve booked at low cost hotels. This comes after attempting to give an outlet at Orisson and couldn’t be guaranteed a bed near an outlet. Had difficulties at one other place also, but when I make these plans, I never intend on...
Glenn, I also am a CPAP user with F-20 mask; magnet hooks broke one year. Used a spare shoelace to rig the mask and readings were about 15-16 (not great, but not in critical range either). A pharmacist helped me do the rigging. He had suggested that I see the local pulmonologist on the next...
I used Tui Tran twice and their service was faultless! We each had a bag for transport this year. For 6 stages for the two bags, the cost was €72 + €10 for exchanging currency.
Other companies do it also. I used Camino Facil on the English route and found their services also to be very good...
