I plan to walk Zafra to Salamanca during the last two weeks of April. I have enough experience to understand weather is unpredictable. After reading blogs, I am still a little confused about what is likely. Weather averages show moderate highs in the 60 Fahrenheit’s. Am I likely to see temps...
I'm planning to do part of the de la Plata in April. I can get a direct flight using air miles from the Seattle, USA to London. I would purchase my ticket from the same London airport to Seville for the same day; there are many options, but it would be a separate ticket.
If I have carry on...
Does anyone have current info on the easiest way to get a certificate in Rome? We have credentials stamped since San Bernardo and arrive in Rome in a few days. Thanks.
I've downloaded the app into my phone, but it still requires internet connection, which may not be available. I use an international data plan that is expensive if I use it much. Is there a way to download the info into the phone so that it doesn't require internet connection?
We plan to walk the Francigena in autumn 2018, but will be in Rome in January. Is there anywhere we can obtain the credential in Rome? Thanks for your time and information!
My partner and I just returned to the US after completing the Chemin d'Arles, and the Aragones to Puente la Reina. This camino is very quiet, and in most areas very beautiful. We had dry weather going over Somport Pass and for the remainder of the camino. We did have some very hot days that...
we are continuing to Puente la Reina, but I'd be happy to try to answer questions about our completed route.
Blessed with good weather, the route from Col de Somport is easy to follow and a delightful trail. Unless weather is bad, I don't know why anyone need walk on the road.
My partner and I will be starting the Chemen d'Arles from Montpellier at the end of April. He's concerned about the need to ford streams, creeks or rivers. Can anyone tell me what the likelihood is of coming across water bodies that need to be forded?
I'm planning on walking the Arles Way to Puenta la Reina this spring. Is there any certificate available for completing this walk to Puenta la Reina without walking to Santiago? I don't think so, but it's worth asking.
Thanks for your reply.
I have done the Camino Frances and the Portuguese from Lisbon. I'm strongly considering doing the Arles camino in 2017. I'm thinking of spring. Since I started my Frances is Pamplona, I really want to walk over the Pyrenees this time, so would like to arrive there at a time of year they are...
Today, several pilgrims, including me, were separately led astray at Pombalinho on the way to Golega. The easiest to follow arrows led back to Azinhaga, in a loop nearer the river, adding several k to the path to Golega. Be careful if you want the direct way. I was with others and not really...
In September 2015 I started the Portugues Camino from Tomar. I broke my leg and had to return home. I plan to continue on this September. I assume I can use the same credential, and just add to it, even though it's a year old. Is this correct?
Tuesday, September 15 rained all day. In spite I had a pleasant long walk from Alvaiazere to Rabacal. At the only lodging in Rabacal 5 pilgrims were waiting for someone to open the hostel. We waited 2 hours after calling the contact number. A woman came, opened the rooms and charged each...
Sorry to revisit the old shoe question, but I'm doing something different this year and have a question. My biggest problem is aching on the bottom of my feet, so for the Portuguese camino I have Hoka trail running shoes with super cushy soles. Usually I would have gortex trail shoes with a...
Last year I walked the Camino Frances, and in mid-September I plan to start walking the Portuguese from Tomar and walk to Muxia. I hope to mail some things to Ivar in Santiago from Lisbon. I will arrive in Lisbon on the weekend, and understand there is a post office in the airport. Does...
My suggestion is to carry a whistle. There are small whistles hikers use if they get lost, and even more powerful whistles for marine use in fog. These are easy and inexpensive to buy, and light to carry. Use of the whistle would probably get a potential attacker to involuntarily cover his...
