    Madrid June 2017

Hi, Hope this is not to late to be of any use. I recently finished the Camino Madrid - 29th May - I stayed in Tres Cantos. The albergue is in the Town Hall, it is doubtful if they will let you in before nine in the evening and you are woken up by the security guard at around six o`clock. He...

    Camino Frances in Winter

Hi, A question concerning the time of leaving the albergue [08:00 hrs] in the morning during the winter months of December and January when the sunrise is around 09:30 hrs. Does this make navigation a bit of a problem?

Is anyone planning to hike the Camino de Madrid this May?

Hi, All being well, I intend to walk the Camino Madrid - again - this May, starting from Madrid on 17th or 18th. It is a lovely walk, but both times I have walked this route, I have only seen four other pilgrims and both times two of them were walking the route in the opposite direction...

My Camino de Madrid - Sahagún. June-July 2016.

What you have written is in my opinion very accurate. However, what BP has described is also accurate. I walked this part of the camino in May last year, I reached the canal fairly early in the morning and for the first hundred metres or so alongside the canal all was fine, but then the path...

    Albergue In Grajal de Campos

I much appreciate your time and local knowledge in helping me with my question. It is not that I do not like Santervas, but on my first visit, when I was alone, I stayed in the albergue in Santervas. There was also a Spanish walker going in the opposite direction, that is back to Madrid. At...

    Albergue In Grajal de Campos

Thanks for that information. It does not sound too promising, which is a pity. Probably have to stay in Santervas again, which I was hoping to avoid.

    Albergue In Grajal de Campos

Information on accommodation in Manzanares de Real or Mataelpino

Many thanks for that information. Accommodation a bit sparse in this area, so new albergue in Mataelpino is very good news.

Information on accommodation in Manzanares de Real or Mataelpino

I have read that there is an albergue in Mataelpino. Also there is a lady in Manzanares de Real who offers pilgrims a room. Has anyone stayed in the albergue in Mataelpino ? Thank you.

Hi David, Wanted to get in touch as I, along with Derek met you on the walk from Ceredilla to Segovia - day 3 I think. I have been reading your daily blog on the Camino Madrid with interest and it is very useful, because I intend to return to Madrid in September and walk from Madrid to Sahagun...

    Water and footwear

P.S. Forgot to mention two items you should consider taking. 1. A large packet of dried apricots or similar - plenty of sugar. 2. Consider taking half a dozen GO sachets. They work, help replace the fluids and salts you loose. Use one when you feel tired, on some of the more strenuous days.

    Water and footwear

Hi, Hi, Like most topics, different people have different needs, the amount of water to carry is no exception. The best way of judging this, in my opinion, is to walk 25 kM on two successive days. At present, the weather in the UK is similar to that you will experience in Spain during...
