How-to guide to the Le Puy route

Thank you so much Andy for your very comprehensive Guide to Le Puy. You have put in so much effort and it is really appreciated as we try and plan our walk for August 2024. I now have a much better picture of what to expect for my 4th Camino 😊

Oh Kathy, I am so with you and know exactly what you are talking about! Hope you are still out there walking in lovely places away from edges that make your heart thump! 😊

    Via Francigena Convents & Monasteries

Not to be missed is the Abbaye Notre Dame en Wisque. It was a great experience and Sister Lucie was delightful. I hope you have a wonderful journey. Buen Camino 🥾

    Perth to Paris?

You can get to most cities from Perth, including direct flight from Perth to Paris with Qantas starting this year. As you know, Emirates or Qatar connect to most cities. I travelled to Barcelona and took the train to Pamplona and then transport to Saint Jean Pied de Port. Have you connected with...

BBC Radio 4 "Last Word" - John Brierley

Thank you, a good listen, a bonus having Michael Parkinson talking about his father, Sir Michael Parkinson

    Besancon to Ornans

Haha, only 2-extra miles?!! We got so lost walking out of Besancon that I am sure we walked much further than that out of the way. It ended up being a very long day, so agree double check frequently!!

    Champlitte to Dampierre sur Salon

What a lovely experience for you all. I have been following Krishna, a fellow West Australian, on the Via Francigena. Enjoy the rest of your walk with the best yet to come!

From Porto to Santiago in 10 days

Exactly - Villa do Conde. Can’t comment on other options though. It was so lovely walking along the boardwalks out of Porto. Really enjoyed this short Camino and I hope you do too 😊

From La Storta to Rome--Need advice

Perfect response. I echo your words because we only walked a few years ago. I was in my late 60’s and found the walk relatively easy despite having to contend with a massive storm that swept through Italy and felled trees and scattered the park with debris. The sad part though was all the...

From Porto to Santiago in 10 days

Porto to Santiago de Compostela is very doable in 10-days. I did it a few years ago and I am as old as the hills! However, we followed the coast road out of Porto and then headed inland. It was an absolutely beautiful path too by the way. Buen Camino

Favorite "Pilgrim" accommodations Canterbury to St Bernard's Pass?

I agree, the gite in Thouranne and Amettes were also favourites of ours and we also stayed in Villiers Chatel, on the recommendation of Jean-Baptiste and Collette in Amettes 😊

I can also recommend the Abbaye Notre Dame en Wisque, which was a delightful place to stay

Using a larger Backpack, just not filling it up. Thoughts?

Same, same 😊 Much better hip belts. I tried a smaller pack and it was so uncomfortable I ended up ditching it on the Via Francigena and buying a new Osprey 55L and would never use anything else even though I take the bare minimum and never have a full pack 👣🥾

    European Peace Walk

I realise this might be the case, because there is no travel at the moment, but you could ask the same question. It is all voluntary by the way 😊

    European Peace Walk

I suggest you go onto the European Peace Walk Facebook page and ask this question. The EPW is not like the Camino, you can’t just walk easily from place to place hoping to find accommodation. The EPW relies on the coordination of a group of wonderful people who liaise with community group to...

Starting from St Jean Aug 25

This brings back happy memories because I started walking my first Camino from St. Jean Pied de Port on my 63rd birthday on 25th August 2014. It was one of the best things I have ever done in my life and I’ve been hooked ever since. I hope you both have another wonderful Camino 😊
