My wife and I are heading out from Le Puy on the 18th as well for three weeks. Have had lots of advice. Basically pack with layers for the likely few cold days, a poncho for the wet ones, and enjoy whatever good or challenging weather that might happen. See you on the trail.
My wife and I started in Porto 5 years ago on Oct 8th. We had 3 very heavy rain days, including the afternoon of our 1st day. A bit of an eye openner for rookie pelligenos, but it turned out yo be a wonderful trip. We had good ponchos which are a must. Not sure about an umbrella.

Thank you all for the suggestions. We were not able to find the guide book in Porto but equipped with jpgs of the map pages compliments of Albertino and links from Amorfati1 we are on our way and made to Vila do Condo without losing our way, at least not too much.
