Hi Angela,
I walked from SJPdP in Sept-Oct 2009 and used my down sleeping bag most nights. I live in Queensland, Australia and wouldn't dream of walking anywhere in Europe without it. The one time that I was too lazy to get it out and used the alburgue's blankets instead I got bed bugs!
Buen...
Hi Terry,
Have you booked yet? We flew from Brisbane to London, then to Biarritz with Ryan Air, then train to SJPdP in Sept. 2009. Worked well except that you'll fly into Heathrow but have to get to Stansted (train) for Ryan Air. Good luck and don't worry about being overweigh and unfit -...
Hola Healthytoo,
We are neighbours - we live at Pomona. Mike (husband) and I walked JPDP to Santiago in Sept/Oct 2009 while in our very late 50's. I am planning the Camino del Norte for 2014.
Feel free to contact if you'd like at jackidufty@hotmail.com
Buen Camino, Jacki.
Lightening Bolt Moment, thankyou Jeff001. I walked the Camino Frances with my husband and am planning the Camino del Norte on my own - have just realized why!
Hi Rick,
I did a walk for prostate cancer awareness through central Queensland in 2006 - 600 kms in 15 days. And I haven't even got one! Last year my husband and I walked the Frances. Wonderful.
Good onya.
Jacki.
Hi Michael,
We walked the Frances last year with the help of Lonely Planet's Spanish phrasebook. This, and a sense of humour, was fine!

Hi Jane,
On the Camino Frances, last year, we drank from taps and fountains and had absolutely no ill effects. I have carried my water purifying tablets on many a trek now and they are looking very old and tatty - I suspect they would do me more harm than good if I used them now.
I'm not a fan...
Hi Karen, It's interesting to note people's home country when they suggest whether or not you will need a sleeping bag. From Toronto, definitely not. I'm from northern Australia and I say definitely yes! We walked the Camino Frances last Sept/Oct and I was so glad that I had a light-weight...
Hi Jason, I think Nordic walking poles are quite different to ordinary trekking or pacer poles that are used on long walks. Nordic walking is high powered, fast exercise, while most trekkers just need a bit of help with taking the load off their knees.

I LOVE my camelbak. I have taken it on the Camino Frances, the Kokoda Trail, the Coast to Coast etc. I wouldn't trek without it. I put only water in it and have never been sick.
Jacki.
Hi Janet, You know your body - do you think you need it? Some people don't but some people most certainly do. Really bad body odor makes me want to puke. I always use a crystal - doesn't weigh much at all and does the job.
Jacki.
Am I missing something? Why is a camelback difficult to keep clean? To me a camelback is just like a platypus in that it gets smaller as the contents are drunk except it is packed out of the way and yet is accessible at all times.
Jacki.
I love my Camelback. I find that I'm more inclined to sip water more often when it's so easily available - and that has to be good. Some people just don't drink enough if they can't get to their water easily.

My main problem since finishing the Camino Frances last October is that I am still addicted to this forum and my heart aches to go back and walk another Camino.
Jacki.
(My husband, who walked with me, and I are still together!)
My diary entry for one day last September, leaving Belorado on the walk to Ages:
Fifteen minutes into the walk and still dark, my stomach started doing dreadful things - last night's beans? I desperately needed a loo. Well, miracles DO happen. For the first time, as we walked alongside the...
For a universal sink stopper my husband cut a 75mm diametre circle out of a piece of heavy duty innertube - in fact we took a few to share around. They weigh practically nothing and work a treat.
Jacki.
Good one, Nick.
I decided to do the Everest Base Camp Trek for my 50th - and I'd never walked anywhere before. Since then I've walked the Coast To Coast, West Highland Way, Great Glen Way, The Overland Track, The Kokoda Track and others and just returned from my first Camino last month.
I...
