I'd read recently of the extreme heat in Spain and instantly thought a silent prayer for protection of all pilgrims currently on the Camino. My sympathies go out to his daughter.
I am one of those 'lone' travellers, but I learned very early on - if I didn't leave myself open to others, I would miss out on the most amazing stories and experience of others. I suggest you not miss out on this opportunity of a lifetime. Go with an open heart; I feel certain you will not...
Most everyone in this forum family have been where you are...but how you feel now will likely pale in comparison to how you will feel by not following your heart. Buen Camino
I too was there CC, in Sept 2015. What fantastic hosts - then to have the pleasure of Istvan driving us on the alternate route around the Pyrenees to St. Jean. The weather was perfect, the landcape stunning!
Everyone's physical state differs, as does their 'state of well-being'..I walked the Frances for my 80th birthday in 2015 and the reason I cancelled the Portuguese for this, my 86th year, is because of the pandemic we are still in. If it were me, I'd definitely save it for your Iceland...

You are certainly getting some great tips, but is there a chance you could shop locally and try some out? and help a local business? Good luck! And safe travel.
I can't believe it's been six years since you presented me with that lovely birthday surprise...such heartfelt generosity is never forgotten. Yes, I'm still 'moving' and now considering the CP. So lovely to see you back.
Five years, and I still use my Osprey Women's Kyte 30l. I may be wrong but I think women probably pack more items than men do. At least that's what I observed on the Camino and the Great Glen way in Scotland.
The only item I lost was a favourite head wrap I used after a shower that went 'missing' from the clothesline in one of the albergues.....small loss to be sure, but disappointing.
