Warning: Improper behavior reported between Astorga and Rabanal

Same here. It took me a long time to convince myself that I would be ok traveling alone. I booked my flight and now I am feeling nervous all over again after reading post on the missing pilgrim and improper behavior. This couldn't come in worse time for me. I will be taking train to SJ on Aug...

First Camino, September - October 2015

Hi Liz, I am flying from Denver, US Aug 23rd so I might bump into you as well at some point. I booked my flight separately to Europe and back. The prices were much lower this way. Great destination to fly in and out is Paris. DEN-> Paris costs right now only about $600. From there I will be...

    Albergues without blankets

I will be traveling through Sep. How warm does it get in Alberuges in that time of the year? Do you guys think I could get away with just carry a light fleece blanket instead of sleeping bag? Also, do people carry their own sheets? I read that some Albergues provide disposable sheets but not all.

How much money to bring on the Camino Frances.

Thanks a lot guys for all the information. It is a huge help for a person who's never been on a trip longer than 2 weeks. It's hard to evaluate all the details. I really appreciate all the advice.

How much money to bring on the Camino Frances.

I have no idea since I have never been to Spain. I don't know the prices for food and cafes, laundry or souvenirs, therefore I can only make assumptions based on other peoples spending.

How much money to bring on the Camino Frances.

Hi Everyone! I've been following different blogs and posts on the subject and I noticed that the prices of Albergues and hotels have gone up greatly since I first read about it about a year ago. I am aiming for around 35 EUR per day. Is this amount realistic enough for Sep 2015? I should...

    Sandals instead of boots

I am bringing Keen sandals as an alternative to my light hiking shoes (not backpacking boots). They are light and very comfortable and come with many different strap designs for better fit. You can wear them with or without socks rain or shine. When it come to blisters and feet overheating the...

    lodgings for September 2015

Hi, does anyone know if the old stone Albergue in Roncesvalles still accommodates pilgrims? I've been hearing a lot about the new one opened recently.

As far as I know you only need stamps from the last 100 km to receive the Compostela but if you are planning to walk more why not get some more stamps to fill up the entire passport. One from each town you're staying at for the night should do.

    Class of 2015

I came to the same conclusion. I started planning with too many details and am just realizing now that 5 weeks is a long time and sticking strictly to the plan is almost impossible. Plus it seems like a refreshing idea to just go with the flow.
