I've walked the camino frances twice and found the second time to be totally different. I met different people, stayed in different places, noticed different things and it was still amazing. Do it , you won't regret it.
I personally feel you walk the camino for yourself. It facilitates reflection and healing in your life. People and pets are apart of that reflection and healing. Buen camino
There is an app called polar steps which is what I used.My sister wanted to keep an eye on where I was as she was worried I was walking alone. It uses sattelite to track where you are. You can also add photos to it and comments and people can comment back on it. At the end they will make it into...
I believe municipal albergues dont accept backpacks that are transported. If sent there they get dropped off at another place for pickup. This could be a cafe or another albergue. They will accept the pilgram though.
My introduction to the camino was through shirley maclaine book Camino.I read that book when it came out in the 80s because I had read everything else she had written. I didnt particularly like the book but the parts where she talked about walking on the camino spoke to me. I wasnt a hiker, had...
The albergues are for anyone who is walking the camino. The credential also makes a wonderful keepsake at the end. I have walked the Camino all 800km and didn't even enter the cathedral at the end in Santiago. Formal religion is not my thing, i would rather feel God, the universe or whatever...
The second time I walked the camino was so different to the first. I wasnt the same person as i was 3 years before. I saw things i had missed remembered some places and saw it through different eyes. Also the people were new adding to a different experience. There are many caminos on the...
San Juan becomes a bit of a bottle neck from memory and people start to worry about finding accomodation. I walked an extra 3 km which was an easy and beautiful walk to Ages and stayed at an slbergue called the hay loft. Ages in my opinion was a was a much nicer place to stay.
Hi Janspex I'm going in Sept this year on my own. Second camino on my own. You will be fine. To be honest I think it's part of the process of facing your fears and overcoming them. You will feel so empowered by your trip. Most times you will have other pilgrams around and the odd time your on...
Hi Debbye you did the right thing using the contact form. As it is the busy season it takes a while for them to get back to you. Sometimes it takes a few goes. I believe they already were fully booked up until early Sept but they also run Kayola which is 800 meters away so they may have a spot...
Sarah you may have to wait until you get there to decide. The pilgrams office will advise whether Napolean route is open and what weather is like. Napolean route is harder but you will be rewarded with beautiful views if it is not to misty. Even though this route is harder it is still quite...
