    ALTUS RAIN COAT

Terve, rain will get you wet everytime. The water gets thru somehow or you sweat so much that you soak no matter what you wear, but the rain will get you wet everytime. Protect yourself as well as you can and use quick drying clothes under your rain gear. Peace. -T-

    Charging mp3 players on camino

Terve, I use my MP3 while doing something really boring pr monotous job to keep my mind away from the dullness of the activity. I won´t take my MP3 to the Camino. I don´t understand the whole idea to fill one´s head with music when one seeks tranquility of the pilgrimage. Peace! -T-

Spain confirms 1st swine flu case in Europe

Terve, The numbers speak for thmselves, thank you, Omar.I think the mass media is highly responsible of this situation. How hysterical can we get! One suspected case in my hometown, 100 000 inhabitants and all the masks were sold out from the pharmacies. I can´t believe it! -T-

Terve, I´ve used this one and its good. It works. Unfortunately my link here is only in Finnish, but I hope you get the idea. http://www.scandinavianoutdoorstore.com ... universal/ -T-

    Backpacks... What else?

Terve, I´ve planning to buy Deuter Futura 32. I agree it´s "heavy" but one of the most comfortable backpacks I´ve ever carryed/tryed. Last year this model won the European hiking journalists prize. Absolutely creme de la creme. Remember that you could need the pack somewhere else too. There are...

    Irish President walks the Camino

Terve, Thank you Sil. It´s very wise to put neutral quote to this discussion. I think we are too eager to critize others... -T-

How to recycle on the Camino

Terve, I´ve been thinking about the Camino. Is it really a pilgrimmage or just a "adventure"/hiking experience?.It´s not what you say, but what you do. -T-

How to recycle on the Camino

Terve, this tells us the attitude towards the environment. What it tells us about pilgrimmage, I´m not sure, but it is very annoying. If I´m able to carry my food, I´m also able to carry my waste to the next pin. -T-

    Another Backpack recommendation request

Terve, if the main adjustments are correct, height of of your back, width of your hip, your over all lenght, I´d say that almost all the modern hiking backpacks are qood. A good backpack fells good on your back, like a well fitting shirt. You feel the weight but no pain. You´ll get use to carry...

    Securing backpack for plane?

Terve, buy a "flight bag" by Tatonka,. It weights 200 gr´s. It´ll hold the backpack safe in the trunk. -T-

    Finland

Terve, I´m back. The eye operation went well. Now I have to live peacefully and calmly. Nothing physical. Walking in in low speed. The stiches will be taken away the next March. I hope time is on my side. -T-

    What do I wear?

Hello, I checked in local outdoors shop these out door Crocs. They certainly have thicker sole and they could work well on a flat ground. I´m afraid that they don´t have support to your feet sideways. I think I have to try them myself (on a flat trail). -T-

    Socks and sandals

Hello, as a diabetic my doctor told me never to wear any shoes without socks, including sandals. So we have developed very low cut socks that are the same colour as your skin! -T-

    What do I wear?

Luiza, I agree with you about the crocs. They can be painful even without blisters. They are way too soft against the hard and stoney ground, you´ll feel every little stone and pebble under your feet. Sure they are easy to carry but you need something solid, socks or no socks. -T-

    food - utensils

It´s aiways the same question of choices. How much is one ready to "suffer" from heavy load for the little (but important) joys of life? Or how much comfort a pilgrim can take along? -T-

    Do-It-Yourself food on the Camino

Hello, that sounds ideal way to everybody. A win win situation. I think this was happening in the middle age too. -T-
